360 style better? Or just more free stuff?

I voted YES to counter your NO. LOL@U

No, its Sony's motto on their website "Believe in better" just wondered if anyone would notice

No, not 360 style. I agree that what they have kept as free is brilliant and they have gone a different route on this "rental" service for want of a better word. Its just not for me for reasons stated of owning the games so far already. I have to admit if they start to add PS+ only features like XGC, maybe party chat etc then I'll start to climb the fence but at the moment its only the auto downloads which is not worth my hard earned just yet.

With the automatic downloads, hoe does that work? I have 2 PS3's, one wireless in the bedroom & one in the livingroom through ethernet. Does the PS3 go into standby & starts downloading automatically if an update becomes available? Would I have to have played the game on both consoles for it to download the update on both? Can I use PSN+ on both consoles or is it going to be 2 seperate subscriptions?

Cheers
2 separate subs as I understand. It pops online every 2nd day to check for FW update and at your last 10 played games for updates plus after that it receives the demos that Sony PUSH to you. I think after this it then looks at the next 10 games.

Have no problem paying at current pricing, my main concern is that this is the starting price and will only go up.

wonder if they'll change it already that the VAT went to 20%

What if what they offer is Free (as is), PS+ (39.99) and then offer PSXL (same as PS+ but with things like XGC, party chat but maybe at 59.99............Ooooooooo

Don't visit Sony's website, they're to biased towards there own products.

As for your reasons for not leaping onboard the PSN+ service I do respect them, it takes a man to stand his ground in the face of relentless peer pressure.

We can actually think ourselves lucky that basic online is free and not like MS adopted it (better service or not) I notice elsewhere that MS are finally about to offer a famliy gold membership, which will allow up to 4 people on the same console to go online. Guess thats a step, though it is double the price of a normal gold sub.

I gave up on Live last week, never renewed my sub, and never will.

The family sub as you say is a step in the right direction but not good enough IMHO. One normal sub should be enough for the whole console.

It's the same with DLC, if I buy some then its locked to my account, so then my wife cant use it.

Microsoft offer there gold sub mugs nothing, your paying 40 for privilege of playing online and talking to your mates whilst doing so. A few other bit and bobs but nothing of real value, nothing tangible like a game! Crap game or not its more than 360 users get.

Wasnt that chappie at Activision saying he'd love to make the COD games subscription for online?........cake and eat it he wants though. Massive RRP AND charge for online. Its one way or the other my friend.......Oh ! and the games not got to be a bug ridden piece of turd.

It's £40. For that you get:

Digital copy of LBP
A PSN, PSone, and 2 Mini's each month
Exclusive Beta's
Full game titles to try for an hour (handy and could save you £25+)

Think of it this way. If you want a copy of LBP you're looking at £10, then 12 PSone games over the year is about £45, 12 PSN games about £45, thats like £100's worth of stuff not including the mini's for £39.99!

It might be in a few months that more PSone games are coming like RE and Silent Hill.

However, I'm gussing Sony choose the games for you.

Only thing I'm annoyed about is that if you cancel after a year, all those free games are lost forever...apart from LBP apparently.

SO what happens if PSN+ ever closes, or there's something new on the PS4, if you can't physically subscribe anymore, you will lose those games.

Yeah, I am sure it was covered in the new T&Cs today!

A premium element of PSN is always going to remain now. This is a obviously a good way to keep you paying, but also keep the PSN store interesting.

I will give it a go for a year. Worst case it I'll lose £40 but I will have LBP and have got to play some classics.

think i may do the same, i think it may poss be a little pricey at first glance, but over the space of a year, its pretty reasonable really. Although the free psn games will blatantly be the ones i already have. They should give you a choice within a certain price bracket

It's only £40 so I don't really expect incredible value for money but quite happy to try it out since it's a small amount of money.

I'll be getting LBP so that's a good start. Won't be renewing xbox live in jan, this is costing me no more than I'm paying already! But with lots of games to try n buy cheap, it's a no brainer.

Have you actually played any minis? I find them highly addictive and great value for money.

Yeah plenty of them, but since I don't want or own a PSP and play them on a 50'' hd they look bloody awful and it makes the unplayable half the time

They don't look that bad on the TV. Obviously no where near as good as PS3 graphics, but certainly not unplayable.
