I am guessing that the list of offers available will also be added to with early access to demos and betas during these months. If these are any good that might sway me towards it.

The details so far seem a reasonable start for the service, over the next 12months as they find their feet with the service and what people want from it and actually use from whats available it could evolve into a pretty decent service for gamers in the future.

Psn+
Is PSN+ just a subscription service to receive "freebies" or will the actually network be upgraded
XBOX Live Gold vs Silver is a clear distinction, what about PSN and PSN + |

Nope. Both play games etc etc.
One gets "freebies" and "push downloads" for 39.99 LOL ![]() I hate it when MW2 needs a 17mb patch and I've to sit waiting for it to download. If only I could spend 39.99 to have my PS3 save me all that time!

lol @soundburt
The problem will be that if you play MW2 for example on a daily basis then you'll probably still have to manually update it anyway since its reported that the PS3 only turns on every 2nd day to check for updates. As you say, for the small updates, its a nothing anyway. I dont want to keep dissing PS+ as I'm sure loads will find plenty in it presently and no doubt it will grow to offer more, which then might tempt me in. |

The thing that would have made me buy PSN+
Extended Warranty program. Simple. I pay is it 5pound a month for continuous play (I don't even know lol it just comes out of my bank). . .if the 39.99 included that. . I'd have bought it day one. Why PSN+ fails: Free content you get isn't ever yours. . .you're renting it. Things you buy . . .like even non-PSN+ people. . .you get to keep. Push downloads every 2nd day. . .erm. . .what? This is just not worth paying for. For the £39.99 there's just. . .nothing there of interest. A warranty was the only thing that would be useful - the rest is fluff. Now. . .as buffoons rush to their PSN Wallet to update it and pay for this trash , Sony will get even more money to spend on upgrading the service. If at some point I can profit from these early adopters' cash (Sony add a Warranty or something similar that is actually of use) then I'll jump on. I aint early adopting at it's current thing though as it's pish. As it stands I'll play for free thanks. . .I also think that my thumb (which plays games and is used to pushing buttons) can handle clicking on the "Download Update" button whenever a game needs an update thank you very much. |

There is a lot of confusion over this, I recommend reading the replies to comments on the EU blog.
The DLC that you get ever month is yours to keep forever, even is you stop subscribing. For example, next month its the Killzone 2 DLC, you will keep that forever and ever. |

Why would they include cover with PSN+ when they have mugs coughing up every month, im sure equal numbers think continuous play is pish and think your the buffoon calling the buffoons. Whatever is included with PSN+, subscribers will find some of that content good and some rubbish, thats unavoidable. But they will have something to show for there money and if there PS3 dies after 3 yr they can get a refurb for 10 more than you've paid in. |

You pay £60 per year on the off chance your PS3 breaks, for your 60 punds you get what? Peace of mind? If your PS3 lasts 2 yr after the 12 month warranty (which is more common than you think) thats 120 for peace of mind.

I know which I'd prefer. If the £40 included continuous play I'd buy it. As PSN+ is it's USELESS. The DLC you buy is yours to keep (whats the odds you always have the game the free DLC is from). . .the actual GAMES you get for free AREN'T yours. The whole thing is whack. ![]() If my PS3 dies then I'll get a replacement PS3. The people who subscribe to PSN+ , to keep any of their free games, need to subscribe to the service for the rest of time lol. Can't believe people are soooo willing to give Sony £40 a year for nothing. |

Please dont reply saying PSN online play is free , yes it is, but would you rather they started charging for it, just so the moaners start paying for PSN+ because then it would be worth it? ![]()

What do you get on Live? Nothing, but millions still pay it.

On PS3 gaming is free. . .that is where the value is. There's no incentive or value to get PSN+ |

There is incentive to get +, think outside the box. I can almost guarantee if Sony charged for PSN then most of the moaners about + would cough up, because then it would be value. Of course I like playing online for free. That makes PSN value. PSN+ is just a bunch of crappy things that they hope people will buy into. I love PSN being free and it's a great move. Just because it's free doesn't mean PSN+ is value too. If Sony CHARGED for online gaming then obviously I'd have to pay as I like playing online with my friends. They don't charge, and thus I have no reason to pay for a subscription. |

Sony won't start charging for online gaming, but they will add most if not all new features to PSN+ (only) as and when they become available.
Sony will be steering everyone toward PSN+ you can count on that, it won't include continuous play either. |

Perhaps if they include a whole bunch of new great features. . it'll be worth something but for the 3 big features they're advertising it's simply not. But by all means you guys can pump your money into its development, and us non+'s can have the rewards later in time. |

And if we all follow your example PSN gos nowhere.
I genuinely couldn't care less if the PSN stays as it does for the rest of time. |

I have no reply to that. Maybe they introduce a gaming charge just for you LOL.
I've nothing against a subscription if it offered something decent. Free movie rental per week from the movie store. DLC from a game you own per month. Warranty. Other things of use. As it is. . .there's nothing good at all I'm afraid. |

LBP is my incentive and to try it out of course, if its as useless as nearly 60% of DS think it is then i may cancel. Should be interesting how they improve it over the first 12 month.
Sony's gain is MS loss, my Live runs out in 2 month. I don't mind subsidising your gaming Soundburst, but sony will get your money one way or another. |

I buy music and films.
Sony get ALOT of my money - and that's even before counting the games I buy. Sony are a massive organisation - they have a film studio and could easily throw in a movie rental per week from the PS Store to make the subscription *slightly* more value for money. Dlc for games you might not even own, push downloads that take half a second to initialise manually, and free games that you only own for the length of your subscription is not a great service. It will grow and grow so we'll see what they add. |
