Is it true that 07973 100450 is a local call rate

It is very frustrating when you have an Orange data sim (e.g. for an iPad) and no Orange phone and keep being given Orange numbers to ring for CS. However, I have been told by Orange that 07973 100450 is charged at local call rates from a landline. Is this true ?

That number will be charged at the same rate as phoning an Orange mobile.

That's what I thought, but two different CS operatives have looked me in the eye over the phone (so to speak) and sworn blind that it's treated differently to other mobile numbers and is only charged at local call rates from a landline.

So to prove the point I have just called it from Skype (which gives me a constant display of credit outstanding. A 1 minute 10 second call cost me 35p.

The lying toads !

Yes, it's charged at the same rate as calling any other Orange mobile.... So they're talking rubbish.

Are you sure....

Orange have always used their own mobile numbers for CS and I have not been charged.

TalkTalk also use an 0870 number for CS but it's free from TalkTalk lines.

Actually, it does... In a way

Anyway, with regards to the OP's query on 07973 numbers, Orange are lying - Orange's 07973 100 xxx numbers are Orange mobile numbers and, unless called from an Orange phone, will be charged at the standard rate for calling an Orange mobile.

Calling TalkTalk support from a TalkTalk line is free, as is calling Orange customer services from an Orange phone.

Calling an 0870 number from another network, you get charged something like a 10p connection charge and rates upwards of 2p per minute.

In exactly the same way, calling Oranges c/s line from a landline or non-orange phone will be chargeable.
