Orange Line 2 Ended but why did it not take off
Hi
As Orange Line two has ended, this prompts the question of why did the venture not really take off? i.e. Same phone for work and business but able to make & be billed personal calls/ texts separate from work. Surely with firms looking to trim their cost base this could have been a product to do this? i.e. set to switch to personal billing outwith general office hours. Or with a wave of new smart phones will this become more common place? Thoughts? |

Yes it was a brilliant idea. Essentially 2 separate phone numbers on 1 sim so you separate business from pleasure and be billed separately like you say. Saves you having to carry 2 phones around.

Orange probably thought it didn't have enough subscribers. Also, i don't think some people would be happy having to change their personal line to Orange from another network just so their bosses could trim costs.
For regular users not interested in second line it was just a pain in the backside that removed the hold hash to put the phone on silent function. |

I guess Orange didn't make money on it as it give you a nice discount on your second line. I didn't use it at the time, but would love it now.
Orange had a lot of innovative things back in the day that made their network the one to go for. Everyphone, Wildfire, the second line thing, Orange Value Promise where they would match almost all other tariffs on other networks. Then they dumped them all and left us with the horribly branded handsets.

One of the main reasons is that the equipment that allows Line 2 to work is nearing "End of Life". And as hardly any other network in the world offers this service, it cannot be continued as equipment is replaced and the manufacturers are not including this spec anymore.

It seems that ever since France Telecom took control, everything that made Orange different and worth being with, has gone.
