Given the fact that Leon couldn't sing and Joe can, i'd like to think not! I rate him higher than JLS and Alexandra Burke but X Factor winners are always likely to be in the shadows of Leona Lewis now unfortunately (I for one can't stand her emotionless drivel). Shayne Ward should come back...he's meant to be releasing new material this year! Joe's first album will be released in October this year!

Alexandra is much better than Leona. Alexandra is an allrounder for a start. Leona is a dull ballad singer and a one trick pony. I think Alexandra's next album will see her go global on a bigger scale than Leona has managed to. Leona is looking more and more like a one hit wonder as the days go on.

I'm not his biggest fan but surely he can't be judged on this until he releases some music?

Apart from the fact that Will released a song a few months after his debut single, Joe's recording career seems to be following the same lines as Will's. He released his first album later in 2002 - at least 9 or ten months after he won.

Rushing out an album doesn't do the singer any favours.

i agree, and i love leona and alex both but alex seems to be improving as time goes along, shes gradually getting a bigger fanbase day by day unlike leona!!

I took my god-daughter to see Looney Lewis on monday and I have to say the voice was faultless but after about an hour i had really had enough of it. The material just is not good enough. Plus the "labyrinth" set put me in mind of Spinal Tap. Still, she's only young plenty of time for improvement.

I have no strong opinions on Mceldry, though i hope people are kinder to him than they were to leon jackson. it is only a bit of singing when all said and done.

I do not get Leona at all.....yes she has a good voice but they way she sings its as if she wants you to find a razor blade...its really depressing. I dont know how you sat through an hour of her show I would be bored, i think shes had one up tempo song released and then the rest are ballads.

Hope Joe does do well...he seems to have a bit of personality and doesnt seem to have grown a big head. But he will be battling in the charts with music so different to his..mayb he will go down a different route like The Baseballs and bring that kind of music back in.

They way Simon talks about not being able to get all the winners lasting careers doesnt sound to promising.

Good luck to him any way..he can only do his best.

Given the fact the OP asked the question about X Factor flops and the 2nd poster mentioned Leona. I see nothing wrong at all with Ghettoblaster's post. It's perfectly on topic and something I happen to agree with. By the looks of it so do several other posters.

Maybe Leona fans shouldn't be so touchy.

He will have new material just in time for the next series of X Factor, and is bound to put in an appearance during the finals..though whether or not he will do a Leon rather than a Leona, we'll have to wait and see

We can't really judge until we hear what his music is gonna sound like. With Leon we kinda new he was gonna be marketed as a Michael Buble type singer and that had "fail" written all over it from the start in my opinion.

I don't really see where they can take Joe or what sound he's gonna come out with because although he can sing, he is a bit bland so I have no idea what type of music would actually suit him. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

No, he hasn't released any music yet, but I still think he'll be a flop. Isn't it obvious?

It's too early to guess.

I think it will depend on how he is marketed. Leon was marked as a mini Michael Buble to be adored by the housewives and the old ladies. Is it any wonder his album bombed? Lets be honest, it was hardly targetted to the majority of music buyers. Pop/RnB lovers. Add the that the fact he had about as much personality as a wet kipper.

I'm hoping Joe performs better, i really like him.

i want Joe's album to be versatile and really out there to be onpar with contemporary tunesand have a real mix to show everything he can do! Spirit unfortunately i didnt FEEL when Leona released it and i don't like Echo much either from You Tube samples!
Alexandra has a solid debut album and cant wait to hear more of and i think Joe will do wonders too, we need more men in pop too anywayand joe will be a success for sure if given the right material!! could be a good album! let's wait and see!!

I certainly hope Joe does well If he's handled properly, and given the teensiest bit of hype that Leona got, then he should

He has an exceptionally good voice and sings with emotion and feeling. He also has a lovely temperament and likeability about him. I think he could go on to having a very lucrative career

He hasn't had a #1 yet.

Yes he has.

The Climb reached #1 the week after RATM.

Oh yeah! I keep forgetting it went up! bless him. I don't have a problem with Joe but his win was only a protest vote from those who didn't want Olly to win.

strange, I thought his win was due to the fact that he had 10 times a better voice than Olly, and thats why he came top of the votes for the final 5/6 weeks.

His future though... past male winners. Not looking too good but I do hope he proves me wrong. I personally think he's too good to flop.

Poor Joe.

Even his thread has been taken over by people squabbling about Alex and Leona. I fear there is no future for him.

Far too early for suggesting he'll flop. However, TezzaEley1992 if you think Leona sings emotionless drivel, I don't know what you hear Joe singing. He's like the male equivalent, just nowhere near as good.
