Spotify Premium

Hey.

Im going on holiday in a week or so for 3 weeks. I use my phone to listen to podcasts more than music but I do transfer the odd mp3 over. However, I'll be on holiday so will want quite a few good tunes.

Is there anything wrong with signing up for Spotify Premium for 1 month. Downloading the App onto my 5800 and just transfering the songs in offline mood? Then I'd get access to my playlists without ripping - I mean, paying for them on ITunes and transfering them over.

Then cancel when I get home?

Thoughts?

Don't see why not. You'll'have paid £10 to rent music for a month. That's what you'll get.

fantastic idea to be honest

takes a LONG time to sync to be ready for offline mode so make sure you have a good wifi/3G connect and set it to do it overnight/few days in advance.

I love spotify premium, was just gonna get it for one month but might keep it now

That's a perfectly acceptable use of the service.

The only rule they have is that you must sign in to the service once every 30 days to continue using offline mode (but you shouldn't hit that).

When you say sign in every 30 days do you mean over wi-fi and logging in via Mobile? as i did that last month and still had to re-do my music which i was far from happy with.

Me too, for the price of 1 CD a month it's well worth it IMO.

To ensure that you are still subscribing, you must sign in at least once every 30 days.

Any offline playlists should remain cached even after that period, but they wont be playable until you sign in again.

Just bought and all synced up and it's brilliant. The software I particularly like, esp online mood.

My only problem is you cannot search for music when offline - not through the whole Spotify Cateloge, but I'd want to search through the songs Ive cached.

Apart from that its brilliant and well worth the tenner for a month.

You can use Wi-Fi to sync music.

Yep. This works perfectly, I did it once to test the service out.

Paid £10 for a month and kept it in online mode during that month. Downloaded albums over WiFi mostly. When the month was almost over, I always started it in offline mode and just listened to the stuff I stored in there. Worked with no issues.

@Dreamfish - Yes it will but you can save all the tracks you want in offline mode and get them downloaded via a WiFi connection. So when you are out and about you just use offline mode and listen to what you have stored on there.

From what I got on there albums ranged from 80MB to 130MB so depends on the size of it. Best over WiFi though, much quicker. Just leave the phone on charge at the same time.

Does anybody know what the little green circle is beside playlists and songs? Its small has an arrow pointing down at a line. Looks like download but everytime I press it the app closes and I get an error.

This icon next to playlists indicates that they are available to play offline:

The following icon and bar indicates that the playlist is being Synchronised so that it can be played offline:

You shouldn't get an error just clicking on the icon, although you only need to click on the playlist name to view its contents.
