anyone trying the new iOS4 ahead of the release on monday?

all u need to do is update itunes to 9.2 through updates then search for the iso4 file for your phone u don't need to be on the developer list as they have removed this from the gm release just google for iso4 and all the info will be available to install it

i think its very good camera is much faster taking photos and now you can upload videos to facebook and use photos on your home screen gr8

Careful though! It may invalidate your warranty doing this and also isnt guarenteed to be 100% stable. Official iOS4 is released in 4 days (Monday) I'd wait.

Been running iOS4 since the GM was released (got a dev account) and I must say its not as stable as I had hoped. There is NO guarantee that the released GM is indeed the final release, it is still in release candidate phase so unless you are happy your phone may become unusable I wouldn't advise you install it until the public release next week.

Its only a few days away anyway, nothing you cant wait for

No need to downgrade, on monday just do a full restore, itunes will download the latest software (which should then be 4.0) and reinstall it

Sure is.

I wont be restoring any previous backups either, will be setting it up as a new phone and then syncing my data to it. keeps any glitches carried over from a backup out of the new system and should improve stability.

if you dont hold shift (or is it alt on windows?) itunes should download a fresh copy. to be sure you could delete any ipsw files on your computer.

You lightweights, only testing it since GM!!

I've been there since the first beta and its gone up and down in terms of stability etc, and now its really really stable, and fast.

I'm still wondering if anything new will be added or tweaked before the final release.

OP - Uploading videos to facebook? That isn't possible through the camera roll and not possible through the Facebook app so I'm not quite sure where you got that from.

Favourite features for me :

Multiple exchange accounts
Folders
Multitasking
Wallpapers

I think the OP means youtube uploading. has anyone tried it out yet? I started yesterday but the phone wanted to compress the video! What is the point in that if the new phone does HD?!

My fave feature is the folders and multitasking. havent really found anything else that has changed how i use the phone.

I do hope apple still have a few suprises up their sleeve, lock screen widgets would be good!

I'd like to start fresh with my iPhone come iOS4 in order to clear out any glitches. Had a few different iPhone models and the same backup running throughout. I wonder if you can just restore SMS messages and no other data? Not seen the option myself so can't imagine it being possible.

YouTube uploading has been here since OS3.1, and it works absolutely fine:

YouTube compresses videos anyway in order for it to stream correctly and encode into its native format.

Yes, you should be able to restore an OS3 backup to a new OS4 installation - the upgrade option will be available.

Seriously, you can't upload videos to Facebook with iOS4 GM. I'm using it right now as we speak and there is no option at all to upload to facebook.

But I mean I haven't upgraded to iOS4, I'm still on the last one and you can upload videos to facebook on that...so are you saying that iOS4 has gone backwards in terms of that?

iOS4 hasn't been officially released, so might not be included in the Gold Master, but we will see whats on the official release Monday.

I expect you are talking at cross purposes here. I suspect you mean there is no option to send to Facebook when you are looking at a video from the Camera Roll (the options there are Email Video, MMS, and Send to YouTube), but I think England Rocks is talking about sending videos from within the Facebook App - you can do that just by tapping the Camera icon next to the status update field.

If its anything like 3.0 last year the version that made it to final release was the same as the gold master release and there was no need to do another update when it was released
