The downside is, of course, that any applicable warranties will be null and void...
If you've got a 3G or 3GS chances are your warranty is already over anyway? I doubt mine is still covered.

I have a question please

If I update my 3g to ios4 using itunes in the ordinary way, and I decide I dont like it, can I roll back to the v.3 os?

I have the beta of ios4 on my 3G iphone and it wont let me rollback to the last version which is a pain as ios4 runs very slow on the phone.

What's there not to like, it doesn't take anything away, just adds features.

For this reason:

For this reason:
The GM version is meant to work fine on the 3G, I guess I will see soon enough and report if I experience any slowdowns.

I found that as well but may have a solution which doesn't involve a hammer

Nope it's suppost to land 6PM BST according to other sources.

I have had it a few days - and it is VERY fast on the 3GS. I can't see the release version being slow on the 3G.

You can check http://ios.e-lite.org/ rather than iTunes to see when it's available.

No worries, it failed on the 3GS firmware but then connected to itunes & said it would get the latest 3.13 from apple. So am hoping that it works
