O2 & Iphone 4

I'm on O2 contract and was thinking of getting an unlocked iphone 4 from apple direct and was wondering whether I am able (after sorting the micro sim) to just stick the sim in and work as normal or will O2 block it becuase i dont have an iphone tariff...

Also would the APNs be the same or are they different for the iphone?

Thanks

I brought a iphone (3Gs) on o2 pay as you go, I never put the 'iphone PAYG sim' into the phone, and just put in my o2 simplicity sim. o2 never asked any question or anything. I did the APN, the infomation was on the o2 website.

Since then I have switched to a iphone simplicity tariff, but only because when review which tariff suited me best the iphone simplicity suited me best, not because my other sim was not working, (except of visual voicemail, which i find a lot of s**t.)

As long as you have a data tariff you should be good to go. the apn needs to be set to web.o2.co.uk I think. should pick this up automatically if you buy from apple.
