Hi - I am getting my HTC Desire phone tomorrow on 3 mobile. Do I need any extras - ie a case, screen protector and extra memory. Is it easy to transfer data to the new phone. Advice is welcome.

Thanks

What phone do you already have?

The Desire syncs with Google, so you'll need a Google account. Get one, if you don't already. Then put all your contacts into the My Contacts group in Gmail contacts. The phone will pick them up instantly. Depending on what phone you have now, you should be able to export them pretty easily.

What email account do you want to use with it?

You might want to think about a spare battery as it's easy to drain it in 6-8 hours.

Transfering files is very easy. It's like using a USB stick. Plus mine synced with Outlook. Now I have pictures of everyone in my outlook contacts!

£5's worth of memory card isn't much to shout about!

I use a genuine HTC leather pouch which i got from Ebay, it does a great job at protecting the Desire when not in use

It is if it's an unexpected freebie ..

To the OP, there are a couple of useful threads about the Desire on here so i'd dig them out and have a read.

Awesome phone had it 2 days also on 3, very happy with it after 8 years on Windows mobile.
Yeah battery life pretty poor, though same can be said of most smart phones, just requires tweaking of settings, some apps available to help, will consider spare or extended battery in future.
No case or screen protector in box am afraid, though did discover it comes without sim lock
Also just nearly hit the fair usage limit in 2 days using the free Spotify account, rang up to complain, said what's point in supplying Spotify if I can't use it, that and a fee YouTube vids, also pointed out t-mobile never considered my usage heavy and got 2 gb data add on free for duration of contract
