Hello ive finished my iphone 3g contract and have gone onto simplicity 35. Do O2 unlock my iphone if i wanted to and even if its jailbroken? i havent unlocked it myself.

See http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/unlockmyiphone.html

O2 will unlock it for free for Pay Monthly customers, while PAYG customers are charged a one-off £15.

As for the JB... dunno tbh. Perhaps safest to remove the JB, get it officially unlocked, & then re-JB if you want to.

I did the above (was in a similar situation as you - but not JB) and you have to connect to iTunes to complete the process. Perhaps it wouldn't complete if you have JB, so perhaps do as Matt suggested.

I'll wait until 4.0 software comes out then i'll update it it will automatically take the jailbreak off and then i'll ring o2 to unlock it. Sell it then get iphone 4. I'm not rushing to buy an iphone i really want one. I want a white one.

Before I changed from Contract to PAYG, I requested an unlocking from O2. They sent the message to my phone saying it was unlocked so I plugged it in to itunes with the other sim card in as instructed but it didnt work. O2 advised me to go into an O2 store, which I did but they had no idea what to do or who to contact and have since just been given the runaround by O2. Not impressed at all.

I did not have any problems, I received my unlock code 24hours after requesting from o2 with instructions to:

Turn phone phone, then on and then sync with itunes worked okay for me, it's a bummer you are having problems though.

I should say tho it was not an unlock code, they seem to have done it from o2 end, I should stress it does say on o2 website somewhere that unlock can be requested after only having contract phone for 30 days of your contract even if it is a 2year contract.
