Planning on ordering the HTC Desire today.
http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/...47/p31043.aspx

Phone is FREE, 600mins/500 txtx + unlimited Internet at £25pcm (24 month contract).

Beat that !

I already have an iPhone 3G - cost me £99 on an 18month contract, same package as above except it was £35pcm.

iPhone is great, but heavily overrated. I now believe the features and functionality on the Android 2.1 OS is equal to or better than the iPhone.

I don't like the way Apply have been controlling what Apps they will and won't allow.

All well and good for Steve Jobs to decree that he wants the iPad "porn-free" but he's started banning all sorts of things for no real reason.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...ree-steve-jobs

He then went on to ban an application for Oscar Wilde's Importance of Being Earnest because it contained a drawing of two men kissing.

And just because Jobs has a personal hatred and falling out with Adobe - I don't want to suffer because of it. Looks like Adobe Flash will NEVER come to Apple products, iPad, iPhone, iTouch.

My contract ends on 22nd June and I now already have my PAC code from O2, so I'll be ordering the HTC Desire today. When I called O2 to ask for the PAC they ticked me off for not asking them what package they could provide. I gave them the details of the package above and after some ummming and ahhhhhing, they couldnt.

I think it's a fantastic deal.

btw. I've said this several times on this forum, and asked people to tell me why I should just go for the iPhone 4G, but have been completely ignored. This thread will no doubt sink as this forum is the PRO-Apple forum. It's all Apple this, Apple that.... I'm leaving my wife and running away with Apple There's a total Apple-mania going on. Nobody can tell me that the Apple 4G is better than the HTC Desire... or nobody has. My posts have been ignored.

I won't be getting the new iphone, looks a nice phone but imo they are overrated. But don't really have anything against apple.
I can upgrade next month and will be going for an android phone not sure which one yet, maybe a desire, nexus one or the samsung galaxy s.

That is a good deal - and you even forgot to mention the free car charger and 4GB memory card they are throwing in!
You could save even more with some cashback via quidco or similar (if applicable)

I have had an iPhone 3g and a 3gs but I'm not going to get the new one. I'm a bit fed up and disillusioned with the iPhone to be honest.

I think the iPhone 4 is currently overpriced. Its a lovely bit of kit but I can probably do with out. I might look at an android phone for myself and take my bosses 3Gs for my work phone when he upgrades.

Then again, I might just go for the iPhone 4 and to hell with the expense

Had the iPhone 3G, loved it, but things have moved on. Android is now much better, you can use it how you like without Apple dictating to you. I have widgets that I really missed, I can organise my screens how best they work for me, I never, ever have to attach it to a computer.

And I loathe and despise iTunes with every fibre of my being so anything that gets me away from it is a good thing.

I would never queue up for hours to buy anything, let alone a phone! I currently have an unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 3G and i'm not planning on getting anything until renewal time in a couple of months when I may get the new iPhone providing it's on a good deal. I find it utterly baffling that some people have over a year left on their existing contracts, but are willing to buy themselves out of it just to get the new iPhone and another 24 month contract. It's a brilliant phone and I love mine, but it's just a gadget at the end of the day.

I won't be buying one, as I won't pay a premium for style over substance.

i guess its all down to personal preference and circumstance..

The iphone is highly priced.. but IMO you get what you pay for.. Ive never used a HTC phone, got a mate who has one and he likes it but he prefers my 3GS!

I dont agree with the iphone contracts, they are a rip off.. who wants to be tied into a contract for soo long?? I bought my 3GS as payg.. and i will be doing the same with iphone 4.

Ordered my HTC Desire about 2 hours ago. It should arrive Mon/Tue. I think we're gonna be very happy together.

In addition I can keep my now unlocked iPhone 3G 8GB as a spare, give it to a friend, or recycle it with O2 and get £140.50 for it.

Good spot with the Desire there - just ordered one myself after 2 days of unsuccessful haggling with O2 over an upgrade!

It looks nice but way overpriced - I got a free Desire on 3, £20pm for 300 mins/texts, unlimited internet, unlimited 3 to 3, free messenger, skype, voicemail - just looked at Vodaphones prices - similar tariff with them would be £30pm AND £169 for the iphone (16Gb) - so over the life of the deal would cost me £309 more to have an iphone and even with the apps store its just not worth it. Granted the Desire isn't 16Gb but a 16Gb microsd card is only about 26 quid atm.

I'm entirely non-plussed by this Apple love in

Especially when its tagged as everyone being different when infact everyone is following the apple sheep PR

I got a desire lasy month for free, with 600 mins/unl txt/internet for £20 a month on 18mth contract ... and sent sent me a 16gb memory card too

For me the huge cost of the iphone is just too much to justify.

I wasn't going to comment, but I hate the "end of" statement.

End of what? Coherent thought?

Those who are happy with an HTC - great. Those who are happy with the iPhone - great also.

I will, ultimately, be getting an iPhone because of the "no fuss" (call it being dictated to, if you will) approach.

I use Macs, because the industry I'm in uses them. Consequently an Apple product will work with other Apple products seamlessly. More than can be said for my attempts to get windows Mobile to work with Windows, or worse, Symbian.

I can't comment on Android as I haven't used it. People doseem to like it though, and that's great, as it obviously works. About time.

I was planning to get one as I currently own a iPhone 3G model but after I found out that I need to pay 200 to upgrade early and then whatever the price of the phone on top of it - so no thanks.

Not me, I would off but the price is shocking for what it is, I heard the profit margin on iPhones are higher than any other manufacturer, I have a 3G and a Nokia X6, both will do me fine

I can do all that on my 3G and I don't use iTunes either...

These android phones aren't cheap either, especially sim free. People seem to forget that.
