Serious Question about The Rani......
IamSparta

In classic Who, did The Rani ever kill, or was responisble for the death (regeneration) of a previous doctor??

I was just thinking if so, maybe thats the whole River Song killing a great man theory....if she was The Rani I mean, she could have been responsible for the death of the doctor, but a previous incarnation.....not one that has yet to happen.

Well it's possible. The problem is that I doubt many people know who The Rani is, compared with say The Master or Daleks, etc. A big reveal of River Song as the Rani would leave most viewers going 'WTF??'

I've not seen a Rani ep for ages. The last one I saw involved her, The Master and Colin Baker running around a 19th century mining community. She didn't make Baker regenerate into McCoy though.

I hope someone out there can answer then if The Rani was ever responsible for the 'death' of a doctor......

I wont be right of course, but, still.......

Have any of the incarnations of the Doctor actually been killed ? I don't think so.
No 1 body wore out, No 2 forced regeneration by the Time Lords, No 3 body regenerates due to radiation poisoning, No 4 regenerates due to body sustaining severe injuries after a fall, No 5, regenerates as body is poisoned, No 6 rgenerates after Tardis crash lands No 7 Regenerates after being shot and "killed" during surgery, No 8 not known at this time but presumibly due to the effects of the time war, No 9 regenerates after body absorbs the time vortex and No 10 once again rgenerates due to effects of radiation.
So it would seem that the only Doctor who may have been actually killed is Doctor No 7

In classic who, did the Rani ever turn into a prison for some kind of trickster, or goblin, or warrior? The most dangerous being in the universe?

Maybe the Rani is the pandorica.

Exactly, i've been saying this everytime River song and the Rani are mentioned as possibly being linked.

Here's my Theory.

River and the Doctor are in some kind of situation with the bad guys breathing down their necks.

In order to get out of the situation, River forces the Doctor to regenerate so he can get away by pretending to be someone else ( not unlike Human Nature). Tearful farewell, "I'm sorry... I am sooo sorry" etc, because she's got this deep connection of knowing his name.

She's subsequently caught and put in prison by the Clerics for murder.

But she doesn't care because the Doctor gets away and he's told her they'll meet again in a library and when the Byzantium crashes.

Largish plot hole in that there's got to be evidence she killed the doctor but disguise the fact he regenerated.
