It looks like they've just taken the Ofcom licence updates and made a news story. This was discussed in the Freesat forum, in early December.

and on This thread from before Christmas

Is there any news, rumours or updates on

Sky2HD
Sky3HD
Sky Livingit HD
ESPN2 & ESPN2HD

ITV4+1 return to the EPG

a swap/move of number for ITV1HD to Ch131 with ITV1+1 moving to 178, this does make perfect sense afterall.

Or indeed any other HD stations starting or HD simulcasts of the SD channel.

Regards to all

Dan

Sky Living it HD has been mentioned a lot, I suppose it might start soon (February 2001?).

ITV4 +1 is not on the EPG anymore?!?

All the other mentioned HD channels are pure speculation.

We have proof of the following:

Sky Atlantic HD
Sky Living it HD
CBS Action HD
CBS Drama HD
Racing UK HD (Think that's the one)

Let me know if there's any others..

Oh, and also was reading the Wiki and seen there's plans for QVC HD at some point???

Sky LinvingIt HD has been mentioned quite a few times.

Now I was just going through the Sky Programme Information when I stumbled across this:

http://data.skyprogrammeinformation....389&chan=SLIT#

From Thursday 17th February, I spotted Sexcetera in HD but we can't believe this guide all the times as in the past it has said HD when the programme was clearly not (CSI on Five HD comes to mind). However, it does advertise it as Sky LivingIt HD so who knows!

I think QVC is already in HD in the USA and Germany isn't it? If so, it's only a matter of time until the same thing happens here.

Apparently there's no downtime for studio upgrades either - they replace each piece of equipment one at a time, and switch to HD when it's all done.

Why the ?

Surely a channel that regularly shows small detailed items (jewelry etc..) would benefit from having their products screened in HD..

No?

Hmm I can see where you're coming from, maybe it's just me, I'm still getting used to my recent upgrade from Sky+ to Sky+HD and when I seen QVC may go HD I just thought it was a bit silly, but you make a fair point there.

Can't see it getting many viewers though. And I won't be watching it!

Well they're showing clips from Diva TV on Sky1 & Living HD now so I believe it's only a matter of time before we see Diva TV HD? Would be good to see Oprah in 1080p!

I don't think it was official that it was to launch yesterday, though I think it was speculated it might.

Feel free to correct me If I'm wrong.

And I think as the poster a few up as said, Sky LivingIt HD is down in one of the online guides.

All the talk and rumours seem to have gone a little flat on New HD Channels and HD Simulcasts of existing stations.

Are there any firm dates or months for more launches of some of the speculated channels mentioned in the last 10/20 threads on this subject????

Any info greatly appreciated,

Regards,

Dan.

Agreed.

It'd nice to know some dates for some HD channels, or indeed which ones will go HD.

IT's good news for Asian (Hindi) viewers as Star Network to launch HD channels...

"Star Network has confirmed that it will be launching High Definition channels later this year, which are being billed as the first service of their kind for UK viewers.

Whilst details are currently sketchy about the new channels, the announcement was made at Star TV UK's tenth birthday celebrations at a Central London five-star hotel on Saturday night.

According to BizAsia.co.uk sources, the new channels are likely to be Star Plus and Star Gold - rated as the number one channels in their genre in the UK (BARB). The standard definition versions will continue in their current form. However, the HD services are expected to launch as a part of Sky Digital's HD offerings on the DTH platform.

The network is keeping tightlipped about the plans but with Star India launching its HD broadcasts imminently, the UK and US HD formats do not look too far behind. They are expected sometime in the second half of this year."

Thanks for that. Should please the Asian community.

NHK World HD is currently testing on 11223 V 22000 2/3.

Audio is there but not linked to the channel so can't be heard on SKY Box yet.

Launching in May on channel 507.

Good for NHK viewers i suppose but sadly that channel offers me no interest and the presenters are so amateur.

Ginx TV HD has just launched on Hispasat for Spanish Viewers, so hopefully a Sky Launch isn't far off now.

Just for info. QVC will be going HD in 2012 when it's new studio complex has been built in west London.
