For example, 'Star Plus HD' launching before the reshuffle would get the next available number (currently 853) at the end of the 'International' genre. But launching after the reshuffle could see them placed higher up the EPG on EPG number 794.”

New channels launching go to the end of the genre and are not slotted into empty slots unless either they have purchased that slot from someone else or all the channels below that slot have chosen not to move up the EPG. Part of Sky's "regulations" that they apply to their EPG.

As Star Plus HD is a simulcast of the SD channel what is the problem here. Star Plus HD will surely be on 784 on HD boxes (or for those who have an HD sub if Star Plus HD is not FTA) under the HD swap arrangements and on 854 only on those boxes that can't receive it anyway.

Or am I missing something?

No you are correct but Digiman posted it as 794 which is a vacant slot and I had not noticed Star Plus SD at 784.

I'm talking about after the 3rd July reshuffle (during which all channels in each genre have been offered the chance to move up to higher slots but refused).

I'm pretty sure that certain gaps/old numbers can be used again after a reshuffle, it's happened before, one example was when 'Propeller' decided not to move during a reshuffle, this allowed new launches to be added ahead of them.

301 HD is for Freeview only as I understand it. Freesat/Sky has the 4 BBCi channels rather than 301 & 302, plus the 24 Olympics HD channels.

seems a bit late for alibi HD seeing as Castle season 4 is almost finished and all they'll be left with in a few weeks is re-runs.

TCM HD in the UK?
Do you have a source for such exciting news or are you just reporting on their license to broadcast such a channel?

According to the EPG reshuffle thread on the Sky forum here it is going on channel 317 - possibly from the big channel numbers reshuffle that occurs next week. That is when Alibi HD launches anyhow.

What else? If this is just a few.
There are quite a few still needed.

More 4 HD seems to be the one that has rather stalled since it appeared to be on the way in 2011 but is not at present being mooted anywhere.

Well C4 are starting up 3 new HD channels for the Paralympic Games. Let's hope they emerge from the Games as More4HD, Film4HD and who knows maybe ever 4SevenHD .

To be more accurate C4 are BORROWING these channels from Sky (out of the 24 that Sky are loaning the BBC for the Olympics)......so they will have no claim to them after the Paralympics are over!

Source please? None of Channel4's own press statements suggest these are Sky's channel's - and for sure Sky themselves would be crowing about it just as they did with the BBC - even taking out newspaper banner ads now! I can find no official statement from Sky.

And C4 most certainly have the spare capacity. Ever since Astra 1N came into service C4HD has had a whole transponder virtually to itself.

Racing UK HD?

That was confirmed by the company to launch in March 2011, 15 months later and it's still not here!

I thought it had been said in quite a few places that these are Sky's channels being lent on a similar basis as to the BBC!!

See here for example (where Sky DO seem to be gently crowing!)

Sky will air uninterrupted streams of the event, utilising three of the channels it is launching temporarily to broadcast the BBC’s Olympic feed.

Crime HD will start to broadcast 24 hours, effectively from when it comes on-air at 8pm next Monday, and from 6am on Tuesday will switch to being a simulcast of the SD channel, rather than running its own schedule.

It also looks like Bio HD may be closing down at the same time, as the 'programmes no longer available' message is showing from 6am Tuesday, when Crime HD takes over its capacity.

Just seen the first TV ad for Four Seven - launching on, of course, the 4th of the seventh! (Clever move).

There seems no mention of HD, so I presume that is not in the immediate plan for this channel.

Alibi HD has started but I guess it won't appear on the EPG until next week.
