But why can't BBC One HD show the London news (as ITV do)?

Better than a test card surely.
Yes! Anything would be better than an embarrassing "We can't do that at the moment" amateur test card.

Or better still, why can't they do a generic news programme that covers the main important stories happing in England - Just like everyone else is getting?

My ITV HD shows Meridian as it is meant to do - What a shame that the BBC can't do that yet.

They could but they choose not to as they want to encourage anyone watching BBC One HD when regional programmes are on to got to their own regional programme.

They are more likely to do so if the alternative is watching a red caption.

ITV HD only shows the London News in the London area so it is a different situation.

I suppose it is because fewer people would bother to switch to their own local stations though I don't see it should be up to the BBC to be twisting people's arms to boost regional viewing figures.

My ITV1 HD shows Central News and many of the ads are for West Midlands' companies, nearly 200m from where we live in the South West.

The Sky EPG still showed ITV 1 HD this morning but now shows on 178 as just ITV HD.

Are we likely to see ITV Wales HD?

Which ITV regions are HD so far?

Probably in due course but not clear when. Currently just London, Granada, Central W and Meridian S in HD.

ITV has 2 more HD licenses currently expected to be used for Yorkshire and Wales but nothing confirmed.

Anyone got a date for More 4 HD yet? Been on test (which you cannot tune via a Sky box) since pre Chtistmas. The Good Wife starts next Thursday in SD only unless it hurries up!

A new show that is only shown on More4 might be an indicator of the HD launch, to be honest.

Last time I checked, the test broadcast of More4 HD was just simulcasting some Sky Sports stuff.

overnights.tv is reporting that More 4 HD will launch and start BARB reporting on Monday 4th February. Viewing will be aggregated with More 4.

Disappointing (if correct) for those of us hoping for a launch this Thursday. No word on Film 4 HD's launch on Sky yet.

I can't believe they're not launching both at the same time but then we've already waited 4 months since the announcement so who knows what C4 are thinking any more!

Of course Film4 HD already reports on BARB. It's not a new channel, just adding a new platform.

Yes, I am aware of that. My comment on Film 4 HD was in the general sense that whilst there is now some indication with regard to More 4 HD there has been no indication from any source as to when Film 4 HD launches on Sky.

It might launch on Sky alongside More 4 HD but then again...

Shows utter disregard for their customers if they wait needlessly until the first two episodes of The Good Wife (which they have bought in HD) are shown in SD only. Why launch when the HD channel is 10 days away otherwise.

Maybe we should ask Channel 4 to put them on Sky catch up to compensate?

It's probable the episodes will be repeated though, right?

10.832 H
ITV HD (London)

10.936 V
ITV HD (Meridna SE)
ITV HD Central West)
3855 (STV West) - for Glasgow

10.994 H
ITV HD (Granada)

11.053 H
20780: ITV London

So there are currently 6 feeds but only 5 regions, but ITV London appears twice at the moment.

Shouldn't STV HD & UTV HD be moved to 103 on HD boxes also ITV HD when ITV add this.

Then ITV may broaden their regions or just make them all HD and try to get them all on 103, with the blessing of whichever organisation made such a draconian law banning HD at the top of the EPG for nonsensical reasons.

It's like you have a mouth (or fingers in this case) and no ears (or eyes in this case). Doesn't matter how many times you say the same thing, the reasons that it can't happen won't change.

"should" it? possibly
"will" it? no

It probably won't happen until the HD versions become proper PSB's.

BBC 1 HD Wales launched this morning on 143 and BBC 1 HD England moved to 976....In Wales at least.

So both on the Welsh EPG. But I suspect that is it. BBC 1 HD Scotland is not on the Welsh EPG and I expect Wales is not on Scotlands and neither in England.

Personally, I think that the regional BBC1 HD should be available to all of the regions. If Wales still gets to see the England variation, then England should be able to se the Wales version.
