Personally, I think that the regional BBC1 HD should be available to all of the regions. If Wales still gets to see the England variation, then England should be able to se the Wales version.
I agree
ALL regions should see ALL other regions on the EPG in HD

BBC withholding channels that have been paid for by us ALL.
Saying we have SD is not an excuse!

951-954 Should be all 4 HD regions.

so, for example, they needed to increase the license fee to pay for the required EPG slots and other costs to do it, you'd be happy with that ?

the sense of entitlement that some have is amazing.

How about waste less money to be able to have more money to buy more EPG slots.

The lengths some people will go to troll me is embarrassing.

Will the mods please look at all my posts and notice that chenks is deliberately bullying me on these forums.
An investigation needs to happen about his behaviour.
Someone should not be made to feel like an idiot and talked down to like chenks does to lots of regular posters.

If there is an online petition to remove this individual I would like to sign it as I am made to feel uncomfortable for adding my opinion to a public forum without getting abuse.

If DIGITAL SPY will continue to stand by whilst chenks absurd bullies and puts down every other poster I do wonder if they care for their readers and posters.

how is offering an alternate view point trolling?
this place is about discussion and debating topics.

feel free to create your own petition, however beware that some might think that is bullying.
you can create it here - http://www.ipetitions.com/

To be fair, the BBC shouldn't be launching services if it can't afford to make them available on a universal basis, and certainly shouldn't be launching them using licence payers money.

BBC Scotland HD or BBC Wales HD are not universal channels though, they are a nations version of BBC1 for a specific nation.

England already has it's own nations version of BBC1, all BBC are doing is giving the other 3 nations their version in HD like England had from the start.

And as for license fee money, don't Scottish, Welsh and N.Irish also pay license fee money? Are they not entitled to get their SD version of the channel in HD?

If the SD versions of these channels are universal then the HD variants should be too. I know the HD versions are currently not classed as PSB's, which could be the reason they're not available to all at present. In the future this needs to be changed.

As for EPG costs, we're talking peanuts when compared to the BBC's other uses of money, and Sky have recently cut the BBC's EPG costs, which really ought to have meant the saving going towards launchng HD variants for all.

The only reason, in the future for not listing all the HD regions would be if the BBC were planning some kind of regional advertising at some point.

I think we're agreed here, the BBC are correct to launch these HD channels, they're just wrong to not make them available to all.

More 4 HD launches at the start of next week (morning of 4 Feb) on channel 138 with the SD version going to 236. Some of the sports channels in the 4xx will switch numbers that day also. See thread on weekly channel changes that runs on the Sky forum here for full details.

Why are we unable to view ITV HD in Scotland on the SKY EPG ? if STV have blocked itv hd..surely they should have put STV hd on the sky EPG..why have a STANDARD DEFINITION STV on SKY but not the HD CHANNEL?..STV..IS ONLY A RELAY STATION FOR ITV ...PROGRAMMING..IS 90%+.. ITV output..take out ITV programmes from STV schedules and you have a channel..nobody would watch..they appear to have a could not care less attitude..to there viewers..as its about 4 years since they launched STV hd..unfortunately they launched in a bucket..(called Glasgow/ Edinburgh).,we the viewers are used as pawns ..if itv hd was subscription..could STV prevent it?...there seems to be no end in site for SCOTTISH viewers and we must view our ITV programmes..in SD.. Jackie Stuart,,Aberdeen.

because ITV don't hold the license to broadcast in the STV region, that's why.

STV HD is due "early 2013" via DSAT (Sky and Freesat).

STV is not a relay station for ITV

if you want to watch STV HD right now, use Freeview HD.

STV HD has been on DSAT for months (years?), it just isn't on the Freesat or Sky EPGs. You have to add it manually for now.

It's not possible to manually tune that channel on Sky now. You could tune that channel manually, but now its impossible on Sky.

if it's not on the EPG then it's essentially not available, as only the few technically minded people will get to it.

and it can't currently be manually tuned in on a sky box since STV moved it to DVB-S2.

Obviously STV taking this long to get their HD channel on the EPGs is ridiculous but not being able to add it manually is Sky's problem. Works fine on Freesat boxes.

i've just dropped the STV CEO (Rob Woodward) another email asking for an update on the previous reply I got from him.

will see what he says.

i'll copy Bobby Hain (Director of Channels) in on the email also.

yes, essentially it's still ongoing and that "arrangements have taken longer than anticipated".
