i've just dropped the STV CEO (Rob Woodward) another email asking for an update on the previous reply I got from him.

will see what he says.

i'll copy Bobby Hain (Director of Channels) in on the email also.
Looks like it aint coming anytime soon

Hi berttrailler,
Thanks for taking the time to post and welcome.
Unfortunately we are not going to have STV HD on our platform as we do not have an agreement in place with STV HD.

i can assure you it is already on the "platform", it's just not on the EPG yet, and it will be added to the EPG on both Freesat and Sky soon. "early 2013" was the initial timeframe which for me i would take as anything up to the middle of 2013.

It isn't on the "platform" until a carriage agreement is in place with Sky or freesat and it is on the EPG. It is however on the satellite on which the Sky and freesat "platforms" operate. In addition you can't tune it in manually or otherwise on a Sky box which is, I would have thought, a necessity to be on its "platform".

many people still have it manually tuned in on a sky box, and still viewable.

when it moved it stopped the ability for it to be tuned in, but didn't stop those who already had it tuned in from still viewing it.

it IS on the DSAT platform though.

the original timescale was simply "early 2013"
those how tuned it in manually a while ago can still watching it on their sky boxes, and freesat boxes are still able to manually tune it in just now.

if you want to watch XF in HD at the moment then you can manually tune in ITV HD - you won't be able to record it though.

See I wish to record it as it goes on too long (2 Hours) and I only really need to watch 1 hour of it when I cut out all the rubbish fillers.THis is why I want it on the EPG in HD.

If you could even narrow it down the the week it is coming out I woiuld be most grateful

i never said i did know of an exact launch date.
i repeated what was initially announced, which was "early 2013" (backed up with confirmation via the CEO of STV).

you chose to read more into it, and that is entirely your fault.

The only real people missing out on STV failure to launch is STV themselves
as Sky customers drift off elsewhere to watch HD programmes such as ITV-HD.
So it is entirely up to them to sort it out everyone else so far excluding UTV (I think)
have agreed the terms and conditions.
One thing about this whole sorry debacle is at no point have we the viewers been taken into consideration,
Thanks STV I hope you're proud of yourselves.

I echo those sentiments. STV and UTV should be ashamed of themselves.

So fed up waiting for STV HD on Sky I got a free Youview box from Talktalk and can now watch all STV HD programs I want to, as well as record them
