Foxsat HDR Red button/iPlayer elusiveness
emread

Recently got a Foxsat HDR. What is the secret of consistent red button and iPlayer access or is this just how it is on Freesat?. It's all entirely hit and miss for us (mostly miss). I've tried a factory reset but no real change eventuated. 98% of the time I am just unable to access the BBC red button menu and then when I can for most of the time the iPlayer isn't there. Once in a blue moon it is. Using a fixed ip address setup on the Foxsat and can ping it on the network.

This problem has been posted a few times here; for successful use of the iPlayer you are recommended to use DHCP rather than a static IP address. If you prefer the same IP address for the HDR then assign the required static IP address against the MAC address on your router.

Hope this helps
Dan.

Thanks. I had already tried that. For some reason the Foxsat will not work with DHCP & obviously fixed IP doesn't work either (nothing else on my network has any problems and I'm not using any kind of Mac address filtering) so am beginning to think I might have a faulty ethernet socket on the HDR.

I would try another cable - I had one that was defective - took me ages to trace the problem.
