I downloaded Itunes 9.2 - installed - Synched and at the end of Synching it tried to do a backup - each time it failed stating:
"iTunes could not backup the iPhone <name>'s iPhone because the backup session failed"
When I unplugged my Iphone and plugged it back in, Itunes told me there was new iPhone Software iOS4 and downloaded it.
When it tried to install iOS4 it tried to do a backup and failed with the same message each time.
It does sync music, photos etc no probs.
I have been having iTunes probs for a while after it decided I was running in compatibility mode (when i wasn't) and warns me each time I start my Itunes. I have updated my BIOS previously and again last night but not making any progress. A few weeks ago my Itunes library file became corrupted and Itunes started with nothing in it which I got round by restoring an old copy of the Itunes library file. After that Itunes was back to normal but it thought my Iphone was a new device and cleared it before synching it which seemed to fully restore it.
I am tempted to restore the iPhone or even reload Itunes or further Windows 7 but if that isn't going to fix it I will be rather unhappy.
I was thinking what are my options and also had a few Restore related queries if anyone knows the answers.
Contacts - I synch to Outlook so can I assume that I am safe if that is reset in the Iphone.
Texts - will I lose all my history / texts
Notes - can I keep them somehow.
Photos - no probs as I have copied them manually.
Apps
- mainly Tapfish - is there a way i can keep my current level / fish / coins after a reset.
- GB national parks - will I lose the routes I have drawn / downloaded.
Is there anything else I need to think about after a reset?
Sorry for so many questions but I haven't really found the answer to any of these questions yet so if it is all too much I will reload Windows 7.
PS a guy a work has iOS4 now and has shown me how wonderful it is plus all my apps have updates for iOS4 too - too much salt in wounds!

Some good news for me as I can still watch the cricket while I struggle on with iOS3.
