River can fly the Tardis - The Sontaran says "only the doctor can fly the Tardis" is she the final doctor ?

River whilst in Amy's house says "oh Doctor why do I let you out" - does this mean she already knows she let's him out of the Pandorica

Or

Is River somehow the personification of the intelligence of the Tardis, perhaps a projection or hologram, ie she let's him out of the Tardis

Thoughts ?

I still like to think she's the wife.

Surely it was thought only the Doctor could fly it, but clearly others can if they have the knowledge. Also how could a male doctor regenerate into a female one, would that be even possible?

Didn't one of the other companions (Rose?) fly it in a past series?

She did, but then said to Mickey that "The knowledge had been wiped from her head" (or something like that) in "The Christmas Invasion".

Now, I do like that. Question is, where's the Tardis gonna get a professorship?

Wasn't Amy flying the TARDIS under the guidance of the doctor in the lodger as she was trying to land the TARDIS but couldn't due to the other wannabe TARDIS interfering!

Anywhere it wants I'd think. Would YOU say no to a box with potential homicidal tendancies that can destroy the universe if you said no?

Makes me think of The Luggage from Terry Pratchett's Discworld books (but obviously with the ability to travel in time thrown in as a little extra - oh and minus the legs too.)

Well I don't think she is the doctor (not unless he falls in love with himself - tho after time crash )

There are few things about River...she said she's been to the end of the universe with the doctor and well.....

The second thing she said was the doctor said he could only say his name to one person....only one time he could....now I know the assumption is to the person he loves....but River kills 'the best man she knew'....what if thats when he tells her

River song is going to be able to fly the tardis when

she is taught by matt smith after he gets out of the pandorica (2000 years later) and he is “older”, but she will be younger,( ie he will go back in her time line to an earlier part and teach her, when the crack business is sorted)

or by the next doctor when matt smith eventually regenerates (end of next or series after)

Thats it

Well I reckon, really the second idea, as she says it wasn’t him that taught her, I think referring to this incarnation as opposed to the doctor as a whole.

Erm.... remember in either Flash and Stone or The Time of Angels (I can't remember which) the Doctor makes a throwaway comment about the church outlawing marrying yourself........

ok i understand the idea of river being the doctor it has a potential basis but where does the rory idea come from other than saying its another dimension about the tardis he hasn't displayed any skills that you'd associate with the doctor.

and secondly the dream lord would have been feeding for two doctors not the one....

No, Rory isn't The Doctor, he's A Doctor.

As is Doctor Song.

He is/was a nurse. He's only a Doctor in Amy's Choice (which The Doctor makes note of).

All the Nu Who companions have flown the TARDIS at some point, with the exception of Donna - at the end of Journey's End.

And River had already shown she could fly it.

I don't think it was flying the Tardis as such, but trying to maintain its position by using the zig-zag thingy. There was no real control over the Tardis, The Doctor said she could be flung into the vortex and lost.

Look at the text under Amy's picture. http://www.petermckinstry.com/USERIM...NOTEPAD(2).jpg

River Song is a doctor.

At the end of TPO she's in the TARDIS.

I wonder if there's something she doesn't know?

I'm beginning to think that River Song is a paradox - a self fulfilling "mobius strip" of a character/person. We all know that the Doctor now knows that River knows his name (that is a lot of "knows" in 1 sentence btw) so logically the Doctor now knows that he must tell her his real name at some point or he'd probably have died in the Library for starters.

My head hurts.

Is River a future Doctor?
Is this how she knows his name?
Is this how she can fly the Tardis *( they said only the Doctor can fly the Tardis)
And the prison scene at the beginning, there was a pointed line to River, "You are not a Doctor"

I wonder???
