I was reading through another thread about how BB is not about celebrity, and as an offshoot of that I wondered if, on a small scale, we are all seeking fame, the kind that many people criticise BB housemates for.
It can be said that generally, BB participants main objective for applying in the first place is to receive some form of noteriety and, further to this, celebrity status. But, what is a celebrity, how can it be defined? In the case of BB, is could be the case, that what the housemates are looking for is evidence of their popularity; this is the fame they seek.
Could it not be said that many of us are guilty of this to a certain degree? Within the direct world in which we operate, be that the workplace, social circles etc... many people do not wish to fade into the background, they wish to be noticed. I am sure we have all know people who act in a loud or brash manner solely because they want people to notice them - is this not in itself fame-seeking, just on a smaller scale?
Just a thought
