Was at my mothers last night and she was complaining she can not send MMS to my dad, her nokia 5800 returns an 'invalid packet data access point' error.

the apn used is mobile.o2.co.uk which I believe is the standard pay monthy apn.

My iphone uses the idata.o2.co.uk apn and I was able to send MMS to my dad by he called me an hour later saying he had a message on his screen, yup you guessed it, invalid packet data access point.

Now, if this was a local tower I would understand however my mother is in tyne and wear, my father on the opposite side of the country in workington. Both have the same handset and both stopped working at the same time!

Neither are able to send/recieve MMS but CAN access the internet.

I have tried resending the O2 MMS/WAP settings to the handset and replacing the existing settings (I noticed O2 updated carrier settings on iphone) to ensure they hadnt been changed but no luck, still the same fault.

Does anyone have the same problem? Any idea what is going on?

I don't know whether there are any issues. But for contract MMS on O2, the APN should be wap.o2.co.uk

mobile.o2.co.uk is the internet APN.

I had an error message on my 5800 last night re MMS. Which was strange as I had not actually been using the phone for a couple of hours. I put it down to a blip at O2 Central.

One thing that may be worth trying is to go into Settings -> Connectivity -> Destinations deleting absolutely everything you find in there then get O2 to resend the settings.

If you go to the O2 web site you can submit your mobile number to get them to send the auto setup details. It should set the servers up correctly to send MMS.

Cheers all.

We tried the update settings, overwrite settings, delete settings... nothing worked. give up in the end but my dad reported the messages came thru the following afternoon!

Looks like it was a glitch on the network. very strange
