OTA update 9200T
weeleyboy
24-06-2010
I'm trying to download the latest version for my 9200Tbut I'm obviously not doing it right as it failed to update last night. I'm unclear on a few points and would be grateful for advice.
Is the OTA only broadcast at night or during the day as well?
If during the day do I do a manual or auto update?
If only at night what do I need to do before putting it in standby - do I have to request the update or does just leaving on standby do it - that's what I did last night and nothing happened. What I really need is a step by step guide from start to finish which is completely idiot proof as that's the one area where I excel! Thanks in anticipation

For it to update during the night you need to put the Humax into Standbye and it will do it automatically.
You can do it manually now if you wish while its still being broadcast by pressing Menu > Installation > Sofware Upgrade > Automatic Upgrade.

The Humax web site explains this process and gives some more info regarding possible fault messages.

Related question:

If I installed (via cable) the version distributed very recently by Humax for beta testing - will it do the OTA or not (ie is the OTA Version exactly the same as distributed by email?

If it was V23 beta that you loaded then no, it will not OTA, as they are the same.

Thanks Gonzo, I tried that last night but no luck but have just done it again and so far 47% loaded so fingers crossed.
Does everything from now on happen automatically or do I have to restart or format it?

Once its downloaded the receiver will restart and the software will install.

Once the hummy has loaded back up again it is recommended to revert to default settings. No need to format, but you will need to reset any scheduled recordings once the EPG has loaded up a bit.

Download successfully completed, no restart needed, just reset to default setting and all seems well. Thanks to forum organisers and contributors, what would we do without you?

Am not quite sure why overnight auto-update is not taking place,as none that I know locally have been successful.I know for sure that everything was set up correctly and left in standby, but nothing happened. I did the auto update during the day,and it loaded without any problems.Anyone not yet updated yet should be aware of this, and update is only available until tomorrow as far as I know.

Humax have said that "Repeat dates for all OTA updates will occur again in July for the third time". Providing the dates aren't inconvenient anyone who does not update this time will have a third chance next month.

UPDATE HUMMY SOFTWARE,hope you can follow this I am not a techy guy but Hummy guides you through its very straight forward, if you miss today's update next on is July12th July 15th.
Menu - Installation/Settings - Password (usually three zeros) - then Software Update OK, then Manual Update OK- then Search Button OK- then Hummy searches and says found new software OK to that, then be paitent it takes a while for Hummy to bring it in so DON'T SWITCH OFF at this point wait, Hummy says if installation successful, then follow Hummy info and go back into Menu- Installation/Settings go down to Default/Factory setting and OK that, you have to go to default to finish installation, after which Hummy freshly installs Channels & wipes your programme recording schedule BUT KEEP'S EXISTING RECORDED PROGRAMMES, so a fresh recording schedule needs to be in-putted later, you have until Friday morning 9am to update
Did all my update with Hummy on Beeb 1 , finally go Menu/Installation/System Info should say May 2010 See Humax UK site for more info

Could it be that you have a dodgy clock? If your clock shows --:-- when in standby rather than the time then you have a bad clock and it will not switch on to do the check for updates (or for any recordings for that matter). See the sticky thread for a solution that has worked for many getting their clocks working again.

Is there a way of downloading the update from a web site and transferring to the 9200 by pen drive?

Yes you can download it but the transfer is done using a serial cable and software running on a PC. See http://www.tynecomp.co.uk/flash9200.html for one way of doing this.
