I have loved this album track from Stripped since I got the album at Christmas 2002 and I think it's Christina's best ever song imo. I know that's a very extreme thing to say but her passionate vocals, the genius lyrics and the latin music makes it a masterpiece.

What are all of your views on it? One of Christina's best?

These are the (amazing) lyrics:

[Verse 1]
He comes from a foreign place, an island far away
Intrigues me with every move 'til I'm breathless, I'm helpless, can't keep my cool
Steals my heart when he takes my hand
And we dance to the rhythm of the band
Feel fingertips grip my hips and I slip as we dip into a state of bliss
Mama used to warn me to beware those Latin lovers
She said: I gave my heart to soon and that's how I become your mother
I said: Ay Mama you seem to forget I'm not in love yet
Sweet talk don't win me over
But I realize big brown eyes can hypnotize, when he says

[Chorus]
I am full blood Boricua, read the tattoo on his arm
He tells me mami I need ya and my heart beat pumps so strong
Getting lost in el ritmo he whispers te quiero, te quiero
I begin to give in with no hesitation, can't help my infatuation
It's pure infatuation

[Verse 2]
Skin the color of cinnamon, his eyes light up and I melt within
Feels so good it must be a sin
I can't stop what I started I'm givin' in
He brings life to my fantasies, sparks a passion inside of me
Finds the words when I cannot speak
I silence his heart beat is music to me
Mama used to warn me not to rush love with another
She said: I'm not trying to lecture I just care about my daughter

I said: Ay Mama you seem to forget I never will let a man control my emotions
But when he smiles I feel like a little child, and when he smiles he says

[Chorus]
I am full blood Boricua, read the tattoo on his arm
He tells me mami I need ya and my heart beat pumps so strong
Getting lost in el ritmo he whispers te quiero, te quiero
I begin to give in with no hesitation, can't help my infatuation
It's pure infatuation

[Bridge]
Caught between my Mama's words and what I feel inside
I'm wanting to explore his world but part of me wants to hide
Should I risk it, can't resist it, this has caught me by surprise
Should I let him take me to Puerto Rico
I can't hold back no more let's go tonight

Papi hold me, say that you adore me
Never let go never leave me lonely
Papi hold me, say that you adore me
Never let go never leave me lonely

[Chorus]
I am full blood Boricua, read the tattoo on his arm
He tells me mami I need ya and my heart beat pumps so strong
Getting lost in el ritmo he whispers te quiero, te quiero
I begin to give in with no hesitation, can't help my infatuation
It's pure infatuation

If you like latin Christina you should buy her Spainish album.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mi-Reflejo-N...7379045&sr=1-1

Only 4 of the songs on there are translations. The rest is all new material. Well worth it.

Dunno why this never got released. Infact so many songs on Stripped were better than 'The Voice Within'

I think they planned to release 'Get Mine, Get Yours' after 'Dirrty' as she performed it quite a few times during the early promo tours but when 'Dirrty' flopped in America they rushed out 'Beautiful' and then tried to distance her from the racey stuff. All this back in the days when she was managed correctly.

Her first three singles were all great choices (for here anyway) then TVW and that awful Lil Kim number instead of songs like Infatuation, Underappreciated or even Impossible to capatalise on Alicia Keys popularity wasn't good imo of course.

Yes I'm aware of them but I wasn't sure if I would understand it.

I have Spanish roots so I'll probably still enjoy it despite not speaking the language. It's a very sexy language and I find 'Infatuation' in particular very passionate. She surely can't fake passion like that.

I wasn't keen on 'Can't Hold Us Down' at first but I have grown to love the Jazzy music (don't know what the instrument is in the intro) and the true and brilliant lyrics. It's obviously a song that means a lot to Christina just like the majority of Stripped.

The Voice Within is a brilliant track as well. The lyrical concept is inspirational as it's all about self-empowerment and that's one of the things I love about Christina. But 'Beautiful' had already been released so another song of that type probably wasn't necessary but it did well in the UK (#9) for a FIFTH single of a 2-million-selling album.

I always wanted her to release Walk Away mainly because her voice is flawless on the track. I think she could have got six singles from Stripped easy.

I don't understand Spanish either! but I do love this album. Its gets me in the mood every summer. I adore her Christmas album too.

WOO!

I'm glad there's another person infatuated with Infatuation. It's like the #1 single that never was.

Infatuation is an awesome song, but my fave album track from Stripped has always been Soar. I love it and I remember hearing it on a film trailer and hoping we'd see a video for it, but it never happened.

I loved the Spanish version of Get Mine, Get Yours that was on I think the Dirrty single, if not it was on Beautiful or Fighter.

I just listened to Infatuation on my iPod AGAIN and it keeps giving me shivers.

Shame Christina never stuck with this sound. At least she can say she made one of the best albums ever! So many deep themes on the album which I love - self empowerment, female empowerment and feminism, sexuality, abuse, passion etc.

Most artist only ever make one or 2 masterpieces in their entire career, Look at Oasis, they never got anywhere near the standard of their first 2 albums.

Yeah even Michael Jackson had one proper masterpiece - Thriller. But I guess many of his albums were above average.

I have to praise Christina on being diverse and ambitious though. Back to Basics, while not a record I love, was a brilliant idea and Bionic seems ok from what i've read. I haven't actually got to buying it yet.
