Any of you who had registered for the email updates from O2 would have been told that you could pick up your Micro SIM from any O2 shop and do the sway from Monday the 21st so you wouldn't have this issue. Looks like most people ignored O2's advise and just did it on the day.

Actually, ive been messed about my orange after being told that I could have a microsim in time for launch only to be told that I would need a new sim. Im only in this position because ive had to get a last minute sim swap with an old payg sim.

That's not the case. There are many posts on here. In most cases O2 were refusing to give out microSIMs. They only started giving them from Monday if you could produce an email from Apple confirming your pre-order or reservation. I went to several o2 stores before the release and got the same story at every one. Although I agree O2 could have avoided a lot of problems by giving out MicroSIMs before release date. They did post some out for the lucky ones, but the majority couldn't get them before yesterday.

I was refused one as I had "only" reserved a phone and not pre-ordered. I did try to get one but good old O2 said no! I got my phone sim free at 7:45 in the morning from Apple store (well done to them opening at 7 instead of 8) and then had to wait for an O2 store to open and get a sim!!
I wish I had been able to swap!!
I had to wait 5 hours for the new sim to activate.

In a way I was lucky it took about 2 hours for my Microsim to activate, or at least for my old 3GS sim to deactivate, but I was stuck on a train for an hour, then saw my nan, so by the time I got home my phone activated as soon as I done the registration via iTunes.

Never new a train being stuck in a tunnel could be good!
