Calling VERY TANGY TV Users
As I posted a while back I’ve taken the plunge and bought Very Tangy TV! Set up was straightforward, I’m using the netplugs, and it works well most of the time. I don’t know anyone else who is using this service so I’d like to hear what other users think. Overall I like the service but wonder where its going as you don’t here anything from them or see any news on the website. My first thoughts are:
GOOD ![]() Ability to rewind for a week is brill, we don’t need to be ruled by the TV Times anymore! Storing a program for a month is fine, I thought I might want longer and it might be limiting but if I don’t watch it by then I’m not interested in it! Doesn’t seem to affect my Broadband (BT 6meg) BAD ![]() Remote isn’t very user friendly, doesn’t seem to do what you want all the time, lots of buttons not used Box seems to need restarting a lot No HDMI connection No communication from company? Also, what would you like to see improved/added? Maybe stopping live TV, access to the iplayer or same options in the webpalyer as the box? I’d also like a option to add boxes in other rooms? If there is some interest maybe Very Tangy TV can become a subtopic? I’d like to hear from genuine users, not just people whove looked at the website!!! Thanks |

What's on the Tangy TV channels (eg movies 1 to 4)?
The other channels seem free to view on the web anyways? |

Hi Vanian3000
I have the system, had it about 5 months now, never watch it all. Tha channels they put on ,in my opinion are trash, sports are all recorded. The motoring show is presentes by the MD. And as you say they never contact you at all,so much for the e-mail notification of new channels. Overall rubbish. |

Hi wpg123
Shame you don't like it, have you found something you like better? I wouldn't be without it now, the ability to scroll back the weeks TV suits me perfectly. Like you I'd like to know more about what's going on, there seems to be new content and channels but you cant look through everything all the time. Anyone else out there got any experiences??? |

The web site is terrible and despite having a link that says "see all channels" and saying that they have 320 it only lists about 50 of them and they include Dave Courtney O.B.E TV and Celia Barlow TV which I'm sure are superb viewing.
![]() As dazbear said the majority of channels are already free to view online anyway. The terms and conditions link points to here which seems to be the terms and conditions of a fitness club as opposed to an agreement to pay for television channels. It also seems that Very Tangy have got something to do with this lot as well. Looks pretty amateurish to me and with no HDMI so no future proofing for HD channels in the future the box is a waste of money. |

I think they may well find themselfs in court.
Gouktv.com is linked to globaldigitalbroadcast.com who were behind playtvuk who were discussed in this thread over 3 years ago. Very Tangy apparently bought up their stock of boxes and the gouktv website has been left up and running. What I don't get, and maybe it is just too early in the morning for me, is that when checking the other threads on here I found this post by myself quoting another site where Globaldigitalbroadcast was running playuktv themselves.. Now, the Very Tangy guy from the first link I posted claims that their only connection to the previous companies was that they bought the remaining stock of boxes of them but when you look at the Global Digital Broadcast site it lists all the Very Tangy channels as well as all the other channels listed on the Very Tangy website.

This post seems to explain a bit of it.

Very Tangy and GOUK
Well I've looked up this whole thing now. I was going to buy a Gouk TV box and then I've found this whole web of a mess going on.
Very Tangy are basically the same as GoUk but the company is owned by the same guy that does all the reviews on the Gay Motors channel. GoUk has Global Digital Broadcast / PlayTV all over it but both of those companies are in liquidation. There is then this Channel Green TV which seems to have emerged selling the same channels (which are free anyway) into Spain. I have a friend living in Alicante and they were offered one by a guy from Geoff at channel green TV. All very dodgy and almost guaranteed to be illegal. I wonder if the BBC know about this. Very Tangy used to sell the old PlayTV boxes on the shopping channel Ideal World but they probably didn't sell many as they wanted about £400 for them. |

Hi,
Sorry for dredging up an old thread, but was looking for some more info about Very Tangy TV. Does anyone know if they are still in business, and where and how I could buy a box if they are, their website doesn`t seem much use. Vanian3000, if you still have their channels, perhaps you could tell me what channels are available now, if the 7 day rewind is still available on terrestrial channels, and what you think of the service a year or so further down the line. I appreciate any information anyone can give. Thanks Duncan |
