I'm due an upgrade and considering an iphone. I've heard from a lot of people that the battery life on the iphone is not fantastic. Would anyone here agree? Also, does anyone know if the newest model has a better battery life? I'm guessing maybe not as it's so new but it's worth a shot.

Then they are NOT RUNNING. How many times?????

Apps have thier state frozen, unless its audio stream, GPS, or Voip, all of which will have an icon next to the clock.

Yeah, that.

I find my 3GS battery quite acceptable, until I start using online apps like facebook, sky news etc.

Typically I get 2 days between charges and I am a fairly heavy business user so make maybe 2+ hours of calls a day, send/recieve 20+ emails and use the internet frequently. Better than my old N95 ever got!

The iphone 4 is specced to have a better battery, its possibly too early to tell if it really has tho as anyone who has got one has probably used it more in the last 24 hours than typical.

Things are pretty lousy is 2 days out of a charge is awesome. It isn't, its pretty terrible.

I know its not a fair comparison, but the old BB 7230 I was using at work a few years back would be pulling through mails 24 hours a day (it was connected to a tech support mailbox), and would go for 7 days before needing a charge.

Sorry, I didn't realise that the Blackberry 7230 was a 3G 3.5 inch touchscreen phone?

Blackberries are designed with that in mind hence why they had enormous capacity batteries for business trips etc. Newer blackberries are not a huge amount better than the iPhone and to be honest many smartphones are not much better nowadays.

Anyway, its not a problem, I still find myself with 50% battery at the end of the day and just drop it in its dock overnight to charge.
