This was a great programme.

Cats + combine harvesters = not a good combination !

Wow.What an amazing man to pioneer such amazing surgery for the animals.
You can see how much he really cares about them. As for little Oscar, I want him. What a beautiful cat and how cute did he look using his new feet. I can't wait for the next episode

Noel Fitzpatrick operated on our dog when she slipped a disk.

And yes, he is amazing. The man you see on the television programme is exactly the man he is.

We were so impressed. (My husband was suffering at the time with a knee problem and his dearest wish was that Noel could treat him.)

I cried.

And yes, he is something else. What you see on the telly is exactly what you get - he hasn't adopted some TV persona. He is the real deal.

We loved him. (And he made our dog better.)

Absolutely seconded.
A truly lovely guy and definately one of a kind.
All his clients and patients love him and the place, like Noel, is amazing.
He also does inspiring motivational speeches including saying you shouldn't be afraid of trying and failing, just of not trying.
It's that willingness to risk failing by trying the untried, that allows him to attempt the "impossible", together with being almost uniquely capable of coming up with previously unconsidered solutions
I would also agree with him 100% that "you can't learn nature from a book".

Mind you my Tv guide tells me that next week he is repairing a chinchilla's arm. That would be a clever trick, even for Noel, given that they have four legs and no arms

I watched this earlier, and it left me completely speechless.

People who go to extraordinary lengths to save lives, animal or human, affect my rather cynical view of this world.

I tend to assume that most humans are either terribly thick, selfish or evil, or a combination of all three.

Then someone like Noel Fitzpatrick comes along and, rather annoyingly, I have to adjust my preconceptions.

What an inspirational, and truly exceptional man.

When little Oscar got back on his feet after the operation, I could not help a "Oh My God no way!" emotional moment.

How sweet was that. And how terribly twee or ridiculously sentimental could it have been if covered by say, ITV or the likes.

BBC at its very best.

And the best thing is that it wasnt ruined by some voice over waffling away, you may like to know its made by the same people who make Wildlife SOS

Just watched it (thanks for the Iplayer link) and am now in tears. How utterly wonderful.

I'm off to give all my cats a huggle and the steer clear of farm vehicles talk.

Just caught up with it, amazing, that doctor should work for cyberdyne though! Especially on next weeks preview when he says "we have the technology"

Humans could get the same treatment! I did feel slightly uncomfortable that people can't get get CT scans etc when needed but some posh cat /dog somewhere can!

I wonder if this government will scrap the NHS?

Thought people might like to see Oscar's progress, he's walking much more naturally on his new paws:

That is awesome. I never thought it would work when I saw the initial damage to his legs.

It's quite clear that Oscar doesn't think much of his newly found celebrity status though, he looks mightily pissed off at being followed around and filmed
