i love VV Brown, so underrated, but when she releases another album she should garner herself more attention, i love Travelling Like The Light, it's a brilliant blend of sound and very strong vocals.

Can anyone confirm or prove wrong that VV Brown is actually Vanessa Brown who sang Whipped a few years back?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2xNXpvd3Bo

VV comes up as related videos but I can't find anything else anywhere about it.

She's getting a lot of attention in America though, I was on her wiki page a few months back when I first heard somewhere that she was Vanessa Brown and she had a few TV soundtrack credits to her name, now the list is even bigger.

I hear the reason for the current chart position is that her song is played on a TV advert for a new season of Degrassi. It is a pretty decent song as well though, it's nice to see people doing well over there though, maybe she'll get some more attention here now too.

VV Brown
Little Boots
Paloma Faith
Marina and the Diamonds

I'm sure there are others. All talented but with practically zero promotion over here, especially when compared to the over exposure of Pixie Lott. God knows who she is related to.
I believe Marina has done well in Germany and that VV Brown had some success in France. We seem to promote the dross and export the talent.

Paloma Faith has suffered from being on the same label as Pixie Lott. I think all the budget for new female singers has been spent on her.

I hope VV Brown has success in the US. She is seriously underrated over here.

Fair play to her. This country should have given her more attention at the time she was here

I recall Shark in the Water being used on one of the episodes during Ugly Betty's final series, maybe it's been used again in something, hence the increase??

It's the main song for Season 10 of popular soap Degrassi. Here's a music video they filmed with it:

Her Daddy is very rich.

SITW is a great little pop song, glad she's getting some success.

Being a hit in the I-Tunes chart though doesn't always translate to a hit in the Hot 100 though. There are acts who have reached number one on I-Tunes but didn't even dent the top 50 of the main chart

VV BROWN everywhere in america

Shark in the water shall knock Perry off this week

In her dreams. Great voice but album was total shite. No wonder she bombed. The album wasn't even marketable.

Hated Shark In The Water, and i can't understand why it's getting attention in the US when Kylie's new track probally won't.

However even though I'm not a fan, Good luck to her.

What a shame for Paloma! I have both hers and Pixie's albums and Paloma's is by far the best and most innovative. I have a feeling that Pixie wouldn't be nearly as successful without her pretty face and good figure. There were some good songs on her album (love Boys and Girls) but alot of it was dross IMO.

Great for VVBrown though I tended to love or hate the songs on her album but the good songs were really good!

Such a shame Paloma hasn't been a huge success but that's what i like about her to be honest. No one i know really knows who she is. They know her by New york but that's all. I can kinda have her to myself. I loved it when Florence and the machine were successful but not huge but they have since become too over exposed by the overated and overplayed You got the love.

I love SITW and VV's entire album, hope she's really successful in the US to make up for her flopping here!

I would say charting anywhere is a success actually. She seems to be doing well in various countries without overkill, which is good for a first LP.

All joking aside, she and her team clearly understand you need to develope as an artist. I'd put money on the table to say she'll last longer than some of todays "big" artists.

No it isn't. It's sales
Sales make up the budget of the album. Like how a box office gross make up a movie's budget

If it doesn;t sell enough, it's a flop

Yes but the record was already made before she's been signing with these international labels. A massive chunk of her sales have been digital, it barely costs £50 to put out a release digitally.

Her "core" managment/label seem to have a damn good grasp at what they're doing. The sell out gigs in France, decent support and TV slots, the M&S endorsment deal.

She's probably breaking even at the moment while the international labels are making a profit, as they didn't actually pay for the album to be made.

By the way. I'm not a fan by any stretch of the imagination of VV Brown, but I am pleased for her & she IS doing well.

At least give her some credit for recognition in the US market which is infamously hard to crack.
