Just found out about this.

According to the BBC website:-

It is not clear how he died, but the star been undergoing kidney dialysis for over a decade.

Strangely I was only thinking the other week about the fact that all 4 members of the original Kinks (Davies brothers, Mick Avory & Pete) were all still alive when several bands from the 60's have lost members. In the same week that Ray Davies has celebrated his 66th birthday as well.

RIP Pete Quaife

I don't think I can name more than a handful of 60s band where all original members are still alive...the Kinks were one of the exceptions.

I think it was John Entwistle that was asked who is favourite bassist was and he said Pete Quaife as he drove the Kinks.

Hopefully Peter is on the mend. I think he had some health issues recently.

The Young Rascals are all still alive, I read they recently played a benefit gig at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Grill in NYC.

Also Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders are all still with us.

*facepalm*

I guess Pete wouldn't have minded, though materhorn, try out Arthur, that was the last album he played on for the Kinks.
