The Saturdays (with Alex Gardner and Wanted) at Hamilton Racecourse - AMAZING!!
OK so i'm a massive fan of The Saturdays. Loved them since summer last year when I spent a very boring day watching their blogs and backstage clips on YouTube. I thought they were absolutely hilarious (and damn hot
) and by about three months I knew their names, knew their history in the industry and had purchased both their albums and knew practically every word to their songs. It's quite sad but it's the only weird thing about me ( ) and my friends all know I love them and rib me about them. Anyways, although I had their albums and stuff, i'd never been to any of their gigs and when I saw they were performing at Hamilton (about 20 minutes from where I live) for a charity night I jumped at the chance. Me and one of my school mates decided to go together. The ticket said the charity event started at 7pm so me and my friend rushed about everywhere (I spilt a FULL CUP OF COLA ON THE BUS and it went all the way down to the front, plus my BBQ sauce dribbled all down my top and I looked a mess) and arrived there for 6:30pm. We saw the stage and saw about four people sitting in the very middle at the front behind the barrier and we joined them. We sat there for ages and ages (I then got a bottle of Pepsi for two pounds ) before a few more people arrived. Two girls next to me then started shrieking and said that they saw The Sats come out of a gazebo behind the stage and that they were wearing white gowns, so the two girls ran round the back of the stage (me and my friend stayed put, we didn't want to risk losing our space at the stage) and came back 10 minutes later with pictures of them and the Sats. There was a Meet and Greet on inside one of the gazebos as well but we didn't have a clue about it. One really annoying girl at my right started boasting saying she's met The Sats a bunch of times and they're practically her best friends, and she kept talking really loudly and saying "yeah but I like being my own person likes, I hate fakes and stuff" (God knows why that was relevant) and I was due to punch her.ANYWAYS! At 10pm it got darker and then the big screen came on and a massive crowd gathered around behind us and we held on to the barriers very, very excited. The host came out and said that Alex Gardner was first to perform. He was fantastic live! I only know him by his 'I'm Not Mad' song but he was absolutely fantastic. Note perfect. Reminded me a bit of a young, more pop Michael Buble. He sang three songs which i'm not aware of but were incredibly catchy. He kept looking at me! I felt a bit awkward 'cos I was surrounded by a bunch of girls (although there were a ton of chavvy looking guys behind me) and they were all shrieking and shouting then he said goodbye and the host came back and announced a boy band called Wanted were next. There were five of them and they, again, were superb. They sang two uptempo songs, then a ballad and then their single (Low? or something). I really enjoyed it and definately am going to YouTube their songs after this post. They then went off the stage and there was about 15 minutes to wait before The Saturdays. OMG, I was shaking at this point. I couldn't believe they were going to be about three metres away from me, especially after months of seeing them on TV and on YouTube and on my iPod and ohhhhh it was an amazing feeling. Eventually the host introduced them "Frankie.....Mollie.......Una......Rochelle.....and Vanessa!!" and the crowd erupted. I was in shock as the five girls came on stage to 'Just Can't Get Enough'. I swear to God, Frankie looked straight at me for like three seconds. I was going weak at the knees. They were really good and all of them spent half the performance waving at people in the audience (my friend got a wave and a thumbs up from Mollie). I must say Vanessa didn't look as enthusiastic as the others however she looked like she was more determined to putting on a good vocal. The girls then asked if we were having fun and stuff then sang 'One Shot' really well. I was right next to the speakers and it was thumping right in my ears. 'One Shot' is one of my favourite Sats songs so I really enjoyed it. After that 'Wordshaker' was sang (The Sats said Mollie loved the song and she took centre stage for the dancing) which was too catchy not to sing along to. They introduced one of their new songs 'Higher' from their third album (due out in August) which was a nice song but the choreography looked a bit tame and it wasn't as good as their other tracks unfortunately. Next sang was 'Issues' which was a suprise to hear although the girls in the audience loved it. 'Baby' by Justin Bieber was covered and they did a great job with it, Una played guitar for it and kept smiling at me at certain points I was about to faint! Then 'Up' sang which was great, Frankie was fantastic at dancing to it and moved really energetically. Mollie had a wardrobe malfunction or something because she walked off stage holding her back and then stood while a guy played with her top so i'm assuming something happened. Last up was the crowd favourite and best performance of the night 'Ego'. I had goosebumps throughout. The vocals and dancing were spot on and the crowd all sang along. I turned to look at the audience and all I could see were heads for ages and I felt so proud of The Sats. They unfortunately had to leave after that but me and my friend ran round the back to see if I could see them but they were on their bus and security weren't letting anyone go through. I was absolutely devestated. My friend, however, did meet Wanted and spoke to them for about five minutes and got hugs and pictures from them so that was nice. It was probably the best night of my life and i'm so glad I went and got such a good view. Just thought i'd share this with you all because I need to tell someone! |
