Any fans on here?

For years I only had 'License to ill' from them in my CD collection but someone recommended I give the rest of the albums a try.

Absolutely superb stuff imo, Paul Boutique is quickly getting into my top 10 albums of all time.

Ill communication is another top album anarl, slowly working my away through the rest of the catalogue and making sure I give each album a few listens before I pass judgement.

Also seem superb live from clips I have seen on youtube

Favourite songs in no particular order

Sabotage
Intergalactic
Sureshot
Eggman
The sound of science
Rythm and Stealin
She's Crafty
Slow and low
Shake your rump
High plains drifter

plus loads more

I quite liked them early on but I think their best song in the end was Intergalactic. It sounded a bit Kula Shaker influenced, which I mean that in a positive way!

I only remember Fight For Your Right To Party and I loved that.

'Body Movin' is a classic, and I'm also very fond of '3 MC's & 1 DJ' and 'Alive'. 'Triple Trouble also has an nice old skool feel (obviously down to the sample). 'Sabotage' is brilliant too.

Sabotage, the video is considered one of the best videos of all time

You're by no means alone Rob - the Beastie Boys are one of my all-time favourite musical acts.

I love how they don't take themselves too seriously despite their great creativity, allowing for lots of comical boasts and obscure cultural references from the worlds of sport, pop culture and religion to be littered across the lyrics of their many excellent songs.

Paul's Boutique is their best album in my opinion, put simply it's an absolute masterpiece. The use of diverse samples and mixes from other artists makes it one of the most cutting edge and ground-breaking records of its day.

Since then, I love how they've frequently reinvented themselves while continuing to knock out great material some 30 years since they started.

Check Your Head, Ill Communication and Hello Nasty have all got some top stuff on them, and I quite liked their experimental instrumental album The Mix-Up from a few years ago. I've also enjoyed what I've read of their Grand Royal magazine, which they compiled and published in the 90s, from the articles that are now available online.

As for favourite tracks (no particular order):

Shadrach
3 Minute Rule
Car Thief
The Sounds of Science
Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun
To all the Girls
B-Boy Bouillabaisse
Johnny Ryall
No Sleep Till Brooklyn
Hold It Now, Hit It
Finger Lickin' Good
So What'cha Want
Skills to Pay the Bills
Root Down
Sabotage
Get It Together
Intergalactic
The Electric Worm

Some of my favourite Beastie's tracks are

No Sleep Til Brooklyn
Unite
B Boys Making With The Freak Freak
Slow & Low

Sabotage

Flute Loop
Shake Your Rump
Sure Shot (Large Professor remix, tho the OG is great too)
Root Down (Free Zone Mix)

Yeah I like some beasties stuff....Shake your rump is probly my fave beasties tune, although they have had a lot of tracks over the years, many of which are pretty f*cking cool....As far as the band's evolution is concerned. ill communication was probably my favourite 'sound' although I loved quite a lot of the instrumentals on hello nasty - 'sneakin' out of the hospital' and so forth, I kinda lost interest since hello nasty, but to the 5 boroughs and all that other stuff is kinda good too, just been a bit lazy with 'em.
