Can anyone recommend a really easy to use universal remote that an elderly person could use? I got my mother the simple One-for-all basic model but it's tiny and (stupidly, in my opinion) the biggest button on it is the 'magic' button which is only used to set it up. Really she only needs channel up/down, volume up/down and on/off.

Any ideas before I have to go inside a remote and disable half the buttons to stop her inadvertently switching to AV in or changing from analogue to Freeview?

Is the problem that she is pressing the wrong button because of dexterity issues?
If so there are remotes specifically designed for this situation. Or you can buy extremely basic remotes with just the controls you suggest (plus Mute usually).

Philips SRP1001 looks quite good:

Still has A/V on it though.

Yes - Ofcom have a responsibility for ensuring continued access despite increased complication but - as ever - they're not quite doing their job.

I can't find remotes specifically designed for this. I expected to find them on sites aimed at helping older or disabled people but no joy.

I'm interested in the assertion that one can buy extremely basic remotes because that was my belief until I tried to do so.

Weirdly, I have just found a remote which almost fits the bill in Asda for £2.60!

Thanks, Webbie - this looks like the answer but Amazon were out of stock and I couldn't find anywhere else in the UK that stocks it. I've ordered it from the US and I'll report back when it arrives.
