The new Alfie Moon in Corrie?
I'm sorry, but that new character in Corrie is such an Alfie Moon copy. Can't remember his name, sorry! What does everyone else think? A loveable rogue? We've seen it before.

i havent watched EE in ages (since it became so dull in comparison to corrie) so cant really comment on Alfie but i thought the the new fella in Corrie had a great introduction to show. That sucka punch he gave Les was hysterical. I can see him providing much more comedy to Corrie in the future. Something EE doesnt seem 2 know much about

Danny Baldwin? Yeah, I see what you mean. He says "Aw'righ'?" as often as Alfie does anyhow.. I was wondering if he's yet another back-stabber Mike has made the mistake of employing. I mean we've already seen slippery individuals such as Joe Carter, Greg Kelly, etc. trying to ruin Mike.

I thought Danny's introduction tonight was fantastic! I think he will be a brilliant addition to the soap!

I'm sorry, but I thought he is rubbish.
The stereotype is just really irritating as well. I just realy hope that Corrie isn't going to go down the Alfie Moon route. Bradley Walsh just isn't a good enough actor to pull it off (not that Shane Richie is either). |

well, it did make me laugh when he got the girls working their fingers to the bone.. turning the situ round on hayley making her feel responsible, so grateful for the extra hour they got to finish the order.. then he carried on drinking his cup of tea! and "as a thank you i've got each and every one of you a box of chocolates" and produced - a box of chocolates to go round "each and every one of you" class!

I quite liked Danny, not a bad introduction, and he punched Les Battersby which is always a plus point in my book. He needs time to settle, and yes, the 'cockney gezzer' persona probably needs to be toned down a touch.

I thought it was OK too. I am assuming that the character they are trying to copy is actually Mike. I think Johnny Briggs is leaving / cutting down soon and they wanted to replace him with someone just as one tracked minded about the business & manipulative as Mike always was in the past. I think when he settles down he will be a good character. |

I think when he settles down he will be a good character. Re stereotyping -- Mike Baldwin himself was much more of a cockney geezer when he arrived, always talking about 'going down to the Smoke', so Danny is no worse. And why were the girls all drooling over him? He is so obviously a phoney and he isn't particularly gorgeous. What is it with Corrie -- we're supposed to think Charlie and Danny are heart throbs. Surely no one's that desperate, even in Weatherfield |

Lets hope he dosent become like Alfie Moon anyway. But I suppose that wont happen as the writers in Corrie are streets ahead (No pun intended) of those on EE

I think when he settles down he will be a good character. I lurve Bradley Walsh and the humour he's added is brilliant - got us chuckling anyway - it might end up as The Bradley Walsh show if they're not careful

Why would Charlie be interested in the barmaid is what I'm wondering. The girls at the factory all being ugly or really men, Danny is way out of their league. |

Loved Bradley Walsh as Danny Baldwin. The Street needs a bit of light relief after poor little Sarah-Lou story.
Who cares if he's a stereotype, so are half of soap characters. I always thought they should get more humour from the factory girls. I hope they bring on another character to replace Surranne Jones soon. Absolutely love Karen and Steve...but thats another thread. |

Hey, Lay off Alfie, not only was he the first, (this corrie guy is but a lame rip off version), but Alfie is fab. And he can act, the scenes between him and Kat are brilliant - he was totally beliveable in his anguish over Kat's infidelity (I think anyway). I actually like Bradley Walsh as a presenter but in corrie he is just an Alfie wannabe, its so obvious, the character would never have been written if Alfie hadn't been so popular!! Just had to get that off my chest!! |

I loved Alfie in the beginning, now he's come down with Walford syndrome and does nothing but frown and walow in his own depression..

the only comparisons are they are both cockney and were ex-presenters, both are different. So i don't see the problem. Besides Danny Baldwin is married, has children and is a love rat! Alfie is the complete opposite!
Loved last nights corrie, it was very funny and contrasted well with the sarah/todd stuff |

To be fair to Danny ( I can't believe I'm talking about being fair to a fictional character - as my 6 year old godson always says 'it's only a story', but I do like to get involved - that's half of the fun), his car wasn't actually repossessed. It wasn't his car, it was a company car belonging to the company he used to work for. But I have to agree that most of the factory girls are way above him - anyway isn't he married to Shell Dockley ?? (sorry about the spelling) - I'd hate to be in Sunita's shoes when Shell finds out she's messing with her man (mind you, the man she seemed to mess with the most was Jim Fenner, so even Danny has to be an improvement on that ). Apologies for bringing Bad Girls into a Corrie thread. |

Apologies for bringing Bad Girls into a Corrie thread. Yes it was a company car -- but embarrassing to have it snatched away after the fuss he'd made about 'his' boxter, which wasn't his at all. So he is just a dodgy car-less man now

i love Danny's character, and its a welcome addition to the street. In the few scenes he did on his entrance, i couldnt stop laughing. Lets hope he keeps it up, and does do 'an alfie' and get depressed after a couple of months.
