Is Becks a nice beer?
Our local shop is having a promotion on Becks beer. I was thinking about getting some in for the football on Sunday but wondered if it tasted nice.
Does anyone on the 'Food & Drink' forum have any opinions on whether it would be worth buying?

It's personal opinion. I don't like it. There are plenty of promotions on at the moment in ASDA, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys etc.
What is the offer? |

I'm not used to the prices down there but 84p per can seems quite excessive.
I'd be looking to pay less than 55p per can. e.g. a box of Fosters or Carling would work out at around 51p per can in the deals around here. |

OMG I had a dyslectic moment there when I looked at the thread. I read it as *Is Becks a Nice Queer*

It not on my list of drinkable lagers, hence why I drink cider in bars unless I can get a Czech lager.

I like Becks! Also hate Fosters, so maybe we have the same tastebuds! Do you like Marmite?

It all depends on what you like. I'm a real ale drinker...normal lagers like Fosters and Carling are far too gassy. If I'm in a pub with no real ale then I don't mind a bottle of Becks as it's not fizzy. I like Belgian and Czech lagers for the same reason.

Becks on tap is like the holy grail around here. One of the nicest pints there is.

I made the mistake of ordering a Budweiser from a bar a few weeks ago under the impression it was the Czech one - it wasn't - got the US gnats piss instead. Eugh.
Becks is awful as well, as is most lager. Get some Ruddles County in instead.

I don't care for Becks myself. To me it has a sharp bitter taste to it, so if that is what you like you might want to try it.
I also think that Budweiser in the UK tastes different than in the states. I like it there, but it seems to have a yeasty taste in the UK which I think is pretty nasty and leaves an aftertaste. |

Steinhauser from Aldi is nicer, and much cheaper as well.

I'm more of an ale drinker and not a fan of the fizzy piss that passes for lager but I do like Becks, it doesn't give me a thick head the next morning either.

Budweiser in the states tastes good in comparison to most of the other gnats piss they serve. One you taste the genuine stuff (i.e. not the American one), you can't go back.
Sam Adams Sierra Nevada Yuengling Goose Island to name but 4 Budweiser is everything that is wrong with American beers and what gives it a bad reputation. |

Becks was nice before the current owners ruined it.
It tastes nothing like it used too these days.. I believe the best lager generally available in bottles in the UK is Budweiser Budvar (the Czech classic and not the US p*ss). Just give it a good chill, pour properly with a decent head and enjoy!

Becks like most other mass produced urine made in the UK is best left on the shelf in the shop or if you do have to purchase it then it does make an ideal cleansing agent for the drains. You are better off drinking pop than that dross. Youll go to the toilet just as much, have a gassy feel , but without feelimg like youve been hit by Mike Tyson.

I think it is, I don't drink it but it's one of my dad's favourite beers. He likes the alcohol free version better though.
