For those of you that didn't look, before the England debacle the TV schedules for the weekend were set assuming that no football would be shown.

Now that it is know that (and when) England are playing, the matches have been allocated between the channels and the EPG "real-time" updated.

I have a 9150 and it has not done this correctly. For Saturday (on ITV) it is showing the afternoon match as being from 16:30-17:00 instead of 14:30-17:15 and the evening match as 18:45-20:30 instead of until 21:30.

For Sunday (on BBC) it is showing the afternoon (England) match as 14:00-15:20 instead of until 17:10 and not showing the evening match at all.

My Vestel box has had these times since yesterday so I do think the Humax should have caught up by now.

Do owners of 9200/9300 have the same problem?

(BTW, I'm not the slightest bit interested in watching the football, let alone recording it, I just want an EPG that works!)

Yes, both my TV & HUMAX shows MOTD England v Germany 14:00 - 17:10.

However, due to issues I had with .23 my HUMAX remains on version .21

Did you miss the "new software" in the title?

I sort of had the same problem, for some reason it was showing F1 on both BBC1 & BBC2 in the EPG at roughly the same time on Sunday. I left for a day or so and it still didn't update. So this morning I did a return to default and it is now up to date, bit of a pain to have to do as I obviously had to reload my scheduled recordings.

If anyone knows how to reset the EPG without having to do a default I would appreciate.

My 9300T is also showing a messed up EPG schedule for Sunday on BBC and BBC2

It has F1 on both channels at the same time (12:10-14:00 on BBC1 and 12:10-13:50 on BBC2) followed by the England Germany game on BBC1 from 14:00-15:20 instead of till 17:00 ish

just switching the 9300T on and off doesn't alter these timings and I don't want to do a default reset just for this so is it possible to update just the EPG as was asked earlier or will it get corrected by itself via updates ?

Nope. Even a power down does not force it to reset the EPG.

It might get updated "automatically nearer the time, but this afternoon's football is still being shown wrong.

For what it is worth I have a 9200T running the .23 upgrade which has exactly the same problem and therefore I have exactly the same question as Mart1n0940 regarding the EPG for Sunday for both the football and Grand Prix - is there a way to manually "refresh" the EPG other than a default reset?

If not, can anybody explain how the cache works in .23 and in particular how any changes to EPG scheduling on any cached programs for the following 7 days are updated, or once they are cached are they effectively fixed in the EPG which could make it very unreliable for recording and therefore questionable whether it is actually an improvement over version .21?

Well now it seems that after the initial good feelings about v.23 and how much better it is, its now beginning to show the cracks as schedule changes are just not happening.
Cache EPG for faster load up is great and all, but if the info is wrong then there isnt much point in it being saved. Why is one fixed problem always replaced with a new one.

I have to say that I agree. This just doesn't look right. I have posted a question on the Humax UK Facebook page asking for a technical comment.

Because Humax testing is rubbish.

They did try harder this time. Obviously not hard enough.

What irrates me is that way that they fix one problem at a time, and then rush it out as quickly as possible.

ISTM that it would be much better if they fixed a dozen problems at the same time and then spent six months (not six days) testing it. (and yes I can give them a list of a dozen problems)

I had the same issue with version .23. I have done an automatic search (which would have the same effect as a reset to defaults) and can confirm this does the trick and gives you the correct EPG for the England match tomorrow - however you then have to set up all your scheduled recordings again. I know this is not a long term solution, but I think it is unfair to be too critical of Humax. A lot of us were involved in the Beta test of .23 for the 9200T and at the time this wasn't a noticeable problem - they have made good efforts to get it right. I am still very happy the 9200T sluggish remote control issue has been resolved in v .23.

It will be all wrong again next week as those schedules will change depending upon whether England win or not tomorrow.

And I know that they got users to test a Beta release but this doesn't exonerate them. A real time change in the EPG schedule is something that happens randomly. Expecting a few dozen (or even a few 100) users to test this is not sufficient as it could easily not occur (or go unnoticed) during the testing period. It should have been tested in house with simulated data.

The problem, surely, is not so much that the EPG is cached, but that it takes so long to update. Caching the EPG coupled with the previous speed of refreshing would undoubtedly have been an improvement. Not caching it would mean that a power-down would clear it. So perhaps we now have he worst of both worlds.

However, it would seem that slowing down the EPG refresh was done in order to free up processor capacity to solve other problems, and this would only make sense if there was a cached version to build on.

I've said before that my 9200 is now a very different beast from when I bought it and I am grateful to Humax for attempting to keep it up to date with a fast-moving technology.

I'm hoping, though, that by the time Freeview HD gets to my area next year, the new box will have its inevitable teething bugs ironed out and that the programmers will have learnt from past experience - in particular that some UK broadcasters seem to find it impossible to contain programmes within their scheduled slots and thus cause clashes that shouldn't happen.

To be fair, at the time of testing there wasnt really any time that we could of seen that this was a problem.
We had a couple of Coronation Street series link issues due to the reschedule with the cumbria incident , which we seem to think was an ITV issue rather than anything to do with v.23 as some other PVR's suffered the same problem.
Perhaps if Humax delayed the OTA further and carried on the testing throughout the World Cup then yes maybe this issue could of been sorted before going OTA.
Humax are in a no win situation with whatever they do as they get complaints about taking their time with testing, then get complaints that its not been tested enough when they do release it.

Agree that the recent OTA update has transformed the remote slow response problems but this non updating of the epg is totally unsatisfactory. Are we saying that the epg will not update itself without resorting to default settings even if left running for say an hour or so?

I completely agree. I have now mailed both Humax UK and Humax HQ to ask what they are going to do to resolve this bug.

As the rescheduled F1 is not Series Linked, am I to assume that even if the Humax picks up that the programme has now moved to BBC2, it won't realise that it is the same programme I requested to record on BBC1, or will that be taken care of by the Accurate Record? If neither happens, surely our complaints should be sent to the BBC, as much as to Humax?

It 'may' be the case that all will come right on Sunday just after midday, but if not is it going to be a problem with the software, or the way that Series Link / Accurate Record has been implemented in this case?

My first PVR9200T updated itself sometime Friday (I should have turned off Auto-Updates I suppose!) and as I had to do a default setting on it shortly after, it does realise that there is only one F1 programme on Sunday - which I have set to record. My second PVR9200T which I have recently repaired for the --:-- clock problem following the instructions from Big-Les, I had already manually updated to V23 and it claims that the F1 is on twice on Sunday, once on BBC1, which it is still going to try to record, and again on BBC2, which it seems to be ignoring at the current time.

I had manually updated the first PVR9200T to V23 previously but found that it recorded almost no programmes at all, so then manually 'downgraded' it to V21. I loaded V23 onto the second box to run side by side with the first as an experiment to see if I had been unlucky with all the failed recordings on the first box, or if it was something peculiar to the Belmont transmitter, or something peculiar to my house, or just the combination of programmes I have set to record. I may 'downgrade' one box or the other again (and turn off the Auto-Update this time) to start my experiments again.

We'll see what Sunday brings. Good job I plan on being at home. Perhaps if I have to go out, I'll set the TV to record the F1. Just in case...

I've encountered the same issue and will be resorting to a 'return to default' either later this evening or first thing tomorrow.

However one question I have (which is probably a rhetorical one) is why aren't all the World Cup matches in the schedules from day one? All matches are being televised by either the BBC or ITV (contractually they need to be on either BBC1, BBC2 or ITV1, with the exception of one final group game from each group) so why were schedules published without them in the first place? The only reason I can think of is that BBC and ITV will be arguing about who gets which game during the knock-out phases.

Anyway, just my thoughts, anyone else got a view?

Separate from my earlier post, I've just reset my Hummy to the default settings and a thought occurred to me.

Is everyone experiencing this problem? If not, did those who are NOT experiencing it reset their boxes to default after updating to v23? I didn't reset mine and am wondering whether the problem occurs only if you didn't reset to default after the update.

I have this same problem. The USA Vs. Ghana match stopped about 10 minutes into the seond half. I'm having to record the football tomorrow so what should I do? Set it manually?

I've just reset my box back to the defaults and the EPG has loaded with the correct times. However you will loose all your scheduled recordings and have to set them again (I took pictures of the schedules on screen first with a digital camera to remind me of what I had set), you'll also need to set any other specific preferences you have like turn off/on times, favourite channel lists, etc. All in all its probably 10 minutes work but I think its worth it (assuming I don't have to repeat the process when the quarter final programmes are scheduled).

There are schedules published, but there are alternate ones depending upon which match England is in, something which we didn't know until Wednesday.
