Can I ask that anybody that has had this issue with the .23 firmware raise it with Humax UK by both e-mail and phone. That way they will begin to understand that they have an issue with the latest version of firmware that they have released and maybe fix it.

Just an update on my previous phone call to Humax UK.

The didn't completely admit that they had an issue with the new "stored EPG" feature of version .23 of the firmware but they did tell me that they were aware of a "possible issue" in this area and they had been made aware of it over the last weekend. They also stated that they were currently investigating it.

My conversation was with the customer services technical support supervisor.

I wait with interest to see what comes out from them over the next 7 days.

Anyway, I thought I would check now (19:00) to see whether it had updated or not and at first sight it was still wrong. However, on cursoring right, it suddenly came good. On cursoring left again, the original, incorrect, schedule is showing. I shall take a photo of the screen and e-mail that to Humax.

Right! I've just gone back to .15. I've had enough. I've been following the threads and agreed with the strange happenings yesterday with the fotty. I switched on tonight and observed that Brazil was only shown for half an hour followed by Coronation Street!!! I gave it what I considered long enough to get itself in order.

.15 works. Perfectly. I've stopped using AR/SL (again) because accurate it is not and I'm quite capable of remembering to set The Bill again next week.

But:- These little Korean chaps really ought to get it right - did they not?

EDIT: However, and I hope Humax are reading this, I shall no longer recommend Humax kit to anyone. Should this 9200 expire (I hope it doesn't) it will get replaced with a Toppy. I have been in allegiance for quite a while but not any longer. They just seem to not quite ever get it right. I have a 5400 Sat Rx (dating back to 2000) which, when set to 16:9 TV outputs everything in 16:9 even if it's a 4:3 programme thus not giving the opportunity to "zoom" it.

I have, as I said earlier, gone back to V21. I found that slow-ups around 15 minutes after switching on excepting, it worked close to flawlessly. Much better than the russian roulette recording I have experienced with V23.

In reply to your question: Yes they ought to get it right, but how do you know they are little? Is there an easter egg hidden somewhere in the software with their pictures?

It may work better for you but to describe it as perfect is OTT. It also has a smaller feature set than later versions.

When I checked my 9200 just after 19:30 the EPG was showing the Brazil match scheduled from 19:00 to 21:30. However, viewing the Brazil match live and pressing the Info button brought up the Info banner showing Corrie as the current programme and Corrie was still shown in the Scheduled Recordings list (I have it set to Series Record). Throughout the evening the Info banner changed in line with the programmes you listed.

This is odd because on software .21 the Info banner took its information from the EPG but in this case it appeared not to have done so. I wonder if this is a change to the functionality on .23 and the information is now held in a separate data file which failed to update. Or maybe the Info banner data was always held separately but this was not apparent as it was always kept up to date with the EPG data. The channel didn't start recording at any time during the evening.

My Vestel PVR showed the schedule changes correctly in the EPG, deleted the Corrie episodes from the Timers List and showed the correct Brazil match Info data throughout the programme.

Tonight my 9300 has BBC1 showing Holby followed my Inspector Linley. Everything else says Match of the Day.
I've emailed Humax and not even had an ackowledgement.
As the machine is less than six months old I'm considering sending it back as it's not fit for purpose, as Trading Standards would say.
Or crap, as most people would say.

Ive just witnessed this odd behaviour too which I shall pass on to Humax.
ITV 19:00 - 20:00 is blank, but I can see 20:00 - 21:00 displaying Rabbit Chat & Date (which is not even related to ITV at all). Scroll right and 19:30 changes to Emmerdale and 20:00 - 21:00 changes to Piers Morgan on Shanghai.

Do you think that there might be issues with the decoding of the ITV metadata? ITV could never get it right even in the Ondigital days!

I'm looking to purchase a new twin-tuner machine, as the 14-day EPG is to stop for my Thomson DHD4000, Digifusion, Inverto and one Sony model. The DHD4000 was amazingly stable and trustworthy. I gather that all current pvrs have issues of sorts.

I was considering a Humax, having a Humax single-tuner pvr8000 as an auxilliary machine, but...it's comforting to see, after five years, that Humax models still cannot display the EPG properly!

Is it just me, or are all these pvr manufacturers inept at correcting faults, or is it the case that the broadcasters are 'moving the goalposts' regarding the EPG?

Well after X amount of days watching football I thought I best take the other half out for a meal. It was only after I mentioned going out that I remembered Portugal V Spain match. No Probs I thought I'll wolf the meal down and set the box to record and then play catch up.
No footy on the EPG though, holby city etc so thought no real problem I start recording at 1930. Came home Nothing recorded.

Just noticed as just tried it. If I go to epg and scroll back one minute its showing holby city but if I then scroll forward (to the right on bbc progs) it shows match of the day at 1930

Unfortunately I cannot see humax fixing this so I it looks like its time to go for another machine as I dont think Im going to be able to trust the humax anymore

Why on earth do you think Humax will not fix it?

I had similar behaviour last night which thoroughly confused me and I assumed that I must have been looking at two different things. The spurious programme name was not shown in the TV Times or two other PVRs for the time slot involved. I did an 8 day search for the spurious programme name on my 9200 and on my Vestel PVRs but it was not found on either.

Because football will be done & dusted in couple of weeks time & it took humax years to sort out the sluggishness of the box with this lastest upgrade. It's also an old box so can't see them fixing it.

Years??? Its only been a major issue since the national retune on 30th September 2009, which to my calculations was less than a year ago so try months instead.

Yours may be an old box, but it's affecting my 9300 which is only four months old!!!!

It's been a major issue since software .21. I know Martin disagrees with me but everything worked with software .15. Yes, I know it has fewer features but the features which it does have, work properly. Software .23 was supposed to be the panacea but, as we've found out, it still doesn't work properly.

That is simply not true. There are a number of known bugs for 1.00.15; they may not affect you but they do exist.
