I know there are a few threads about the Desire.....

But I have quite a few questions.

I got my HTC Desire on Thurs - and Iove it. But I'm new to the smartphone and so I have a few questions

Firstly - this is more about my tariff.....

1) I was on 100mins and unltd texts....and my upgrade was due on 7th July

Now I went into the orange store, and I said I wanted to upgrade - the guy got me 200mins, ultd texts and 500mb data on Dolphin 20 - with 10% corporate discount - so it's £18 in all....

On Orange retentions (and also upgrades on phone) I was offered 100mins, ultd txts and ultd internet for £20 a month with no 10% discount...

I told the guy about the ultd internet, and he said if I wanted that I would have to go up to £28 a month

Anyway, my old phone was on its last legs, andthe deal seem alright and he had the black htc in stock so I went with that deal and got it there and then in the orange shop..

My new tariff doesnt start until 7th july when my old tariff ends. So I can only use Wifi at the moment.

I'm worried about having the mobile data on by accident. I think I might ring up and get the interim data bundle (£5 a month, but only need 2 weeks so will be £2.50)

Has anyone else done this?
also what do you think about the whole ultd internet/500mbs etc??

My logic is I use wifi at home, and use wifi at work - so only really need the 500mb when I'm out and about and have on 3g watchdog

I don't think I'll go over the 500mb - especially as I'm not really into watching youtube on mobile etc... the only music i would listen to also is on the MicroSD card- so I won't be streaming music..

Ok - next....lol

2) I know orange is heavily branded .... and tbh i'm not tooo bothered - I managed to get gtalk on the htc desire and it works fine.... but regarding the orange internet browser- can I get the HTC desires own browser??? I'm really not fussed on oranges??

3) Does the Your Orange, and Orange Wednesday apps cost extra on top of databundle? The reason I ask is cos I think I read somewhere that orange's own apps installed already can sometimes incur extra costs - but does those 2 apps I mentioned cost?? as I downloaded them from market place...?

4) Is there anything else I should know regarding cost/orange crap on phone etc....???

I'm not really wanting to de-brand the phone in a way that it will hinder my orange help/warranty/all that crap......but is there anything else I can do to minimise the existence of orange crap on my phone......

My Main thing is that I would really like HTC's own browser - I had the iphone through work (ery briefly - gave it back as I did not really like) and I got used to the pinch to zoom on the broswer.... andI know HTC's broswer also has this....but oranges doesn't - so how can I get HTC's browser

Oh - also - regarding the mail - I don't fully understand everything about the mail. I have installed the gmail unread count app.....and it works ok - but I like theHTC mail widget - and waswondering how can I get this for gmail??? If anyone can send me to a guide online - or help me out here? that would be great

Sorry its such a long post - and no doubt I will def have more questions.....but these are the things in the mean time..... and I could really do with other's help....thank you soo much

Many no one replied because no one knew?

Try Android forums, chances are half your questions will have been answered there already in existing threads.

Switch on/off manually when you need it, only takes a second to go into the settings and tick/untick...

When you use the search button, it brings up it's own browser.

It costs "whatever" to use the orange wednesday app to get your code but I "thought" for the rest of it, it was part of your data bundle...hmmmmm.

Best widget to date imo as gotta be the power saving one, place it on your home screen, and your wi-fi, bluetooth etc.. are all there to toggle on and off at the touch of a button, saving any uneccessary battery useage.

Also, biggest advice I can give is...NEVER play football with your phone in your pocket, 33 days in and my screen is just a awash with a dirty pink blur, screen busted!!!!!!

I have just got one of these and am taking it back. The speakerphone quality is dreadful.

Can I also point out a couple of things:

1. If you're on Orange you can download an app from the Market called "Your Orange" which tells you the balance of your bill, your internet usage etc. It's free.

2. You mention that the Orange browser doesn't do "pinch to zoom". Actually it does, as I use it myself, and my Desire is a branded Orange one.
