Just bought an iPhone 4 and at the time of purchase, I decided against buying a bumper on any additional accessories as I was more interested in just having the handset and contract all sorted that day.

I've had the iPhone 3G and in the past I've bought screen protectors and cases for them but what happened with that was I decided I preferred to have the phone free of the case which I had bought as it made the phone feel a bit bulkier.

So, this time round, I didn't really want to waste £20 or £30 on a case and screen protectors if there are better options out there. I accept that the product is still rather new so there may be limited options at this time but still thought I'd ask on here if anyone has any recommendations of what case to go for.

I'm looking for screen protection as well but really there are two things I require, something that is an all in one solution and easy to apply or remove should I decide I want to later.

Is there any need for screen protectors? I had one on my 3GS but apparently the iPhones screens are scratch resistant?

I have my concerns about that though. Have you seen any of the videos on YouTube about the new iPhone? They will certainly be tougher than the previous models but not quite as tough or resistant to scratches as Apple would have you think.

There are some protective cases here though some of them are on the lurid side http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/cat/iPhone-4-Cases.htm

Apple do their wrap-around bumper thing but that retails ast £25 http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC...co=MTY3ODQ5OTY

Thing is the screens show fingerprints up without a protector but with one on they don't show up half as bad IMO.

I've had a good look around and I keep coming back to thinking the Apple Bumper and some screen protectors for front and similar thing to cover the back. I was looking at the Griffin Reveal for iPhone 4 case and it would seem that it causes a problem with the flash. I've seen results with and without that case being used on another forum so there is evidently a problem and many of the other cases just don't appeal to me.

Finger-prints wipe off easily. That's the point of the oleophobic covering on the screen.

I've just got a Bumper on mine. I may try & get some sort of pouch or slipcase.

I had a Power Support "Air Jacket" for my 3G & 3GS, mainly to protect the horrible plastic back from scratching.

Haven't bothered with a screen protector since the 3G.

I find the faux leather slipcases to be best. They stop the phone from getting scratched in your pocket, add minimal bulk, and leave the phone nice and sexy and naked when in use!

It's sapphire crystal strength glass at the back and front, I don't think I am likely to scratch it.

My old 3G which is 2 years old now has no scratches on the front (hundreds on the back though due to the crappy plastic).

Im wondering if I actually need a screen protector. When I first got my iphone 3G I didnt have a screen protector and after about 3 weeks it got a tiny tiny chip in the screen. You couldn't even see unless you knew it was there but I got worried and bought a screen protector, had a few zagg ones which were awful and eventually went down to the apple store and got them to fit one for me and it was perfect. Then my phone became faulty and had to get a new one. The new one didnt have a screen protector on it and I havent had time to get down to the apple store to get another one fitted but I've had it unprotected for 3 months now and it doesnt have a single mark on it. The only annoying thing is that the screen gets a lot of finger prints on it. So apart from cleanliness im not sure it I need a screen protector.

Having had a look around at a few sites now, I think the range on Mobile Fun would appear to be better than I've found elsewhere. The InvisibleSHIELD looks to be quite durable so was thinking maybe going for one of those with the FlexiShield from the Mobile Fun site. Here is the link: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/flexishie...lue-p25145.htm. I prefer covers not to have branding, it doesn't matter too much that it is blue but it looks as though the cover leaves enough room for connecting in the TV out cable I sometimes use. What do you guys reckon?

I wandered round with mine all weekend, dropped it off a table once and on the floor in a field twice. Not a mark on it!

Just ordered the FlexiShield case from Mobile Fun and InvisiShield screen protector from Zagg.com. I had a look on eBay and only the Belkin Grip Vue looked any good to me but this FlexiShield one looks as though it has better access to the volume buttons.

I just got the InvisiSHIELD for the front because of getting a cover for the rest of the phone. It looks to be the best sort of screen protector though from what I've read. I'm maybe a bit concerned about applying the solution correctly though. Any tips with that?

I almost went for the Belkin Grip Vue which is a clear case but it covers up the volume buttons and on the review I saw, the guy made a point of saying he had to press the buttons pretty hard for them to respond. The case I've gone for happens to be blue with no particular design. As long as it does the job though, that's the main thing.

maybe i put my last one on wrong, but i hated the InvisiSHIELD on my 3GS

looks like it had creases in it, but then that could of been me. If it was me, then how the hell do you fit them!

I would say the screen is not that fullproof. Ive managed to get a slight scratch on the front screen on the black bit at the(bottom).

Have no idea how as its always been in my pocket and sat on a desk.
