They didn't say it was Cleopatra though. And Cleopatra wasn't a goddess.

Debatable. Pharaoh worship was common in Ancient Egypt, and Cleopatra would have claimed divine lineage (daughter of Isis I recall).

Obviously there is the whole 'was Cleopatra egyptian or Greek' thing. But doubtful we'd revisit River as Cleo after only 2 episodes.

Isis or Nefertiti I'd think. Or a cat with a time machine!

In the Whoverse the Egyptian Gods are the Osirans (see Pyramids of Mars) , I wonder if this will tie in somehow?

Sutekh does want revenge for losing the Whoniverse Election.

Find the thread.

I wonder which King or Queen called the Doctor?

Obviously one from the future, did he go back and give Liz 10 a contact number sometime during her 3000 plus year long reign or will it be someone else?

in the latest sfx SM says to them that the final of next season is being worked out and that he has the big plot points mapped out and that it will be in egypt but he hasnt actually written the episode yet so the egypt storyline thats hinted at in the big bang and for the xmas episode ties in nicely with that!

Hope they all keep those wedding costumes on for the Orient Express - looks sort of apt.

The men, yes, but not Amy, please. It's one up on running around in her nightie I suppose but Donna's already done the wedding dress thing.

But can you not imagine her ripping away most of the skirt at some point? (besides I hear trashing the wedding dress is a growing trend).

Didn't Cleopatra's family have brother-sister weddings in order to keep the bloodline pure??

If she did that it would be interesting to see what the guests at the Reception think when she gets back (assuming she goes back more or less when she left). I feel for her parents, she just got them back then shouted at her father and ran off. Lovely girl

Most of the Egyptian pharoahs had marriages within the family, either brother/sister marriages or cousins.

It would explain what they were really trying to convey by all those Penguins of the Nile and Polar Bears in the jungle and then there's that fez !

Thought they were coming back from cryptic hints in The Writer's Tale too.

Was trying to find out when the Doctor mentioned something about an Egyptian Goddess or mummy in the Orient Express and came across this thread on Google. And now that we know one of the titles is "Mummy on the Orient Express" …could there be a connection between the phone call the Doctor had back in Series 5 and this episode?

Moffatt did say when Foxes was cast that the Doctor was catching up with old phone calls…not too 'out there' to assume this could be a link between the two?

First time I heard about the rumoured title I assumed the same thing... They will probably reference it like they did with Agatha Christie.

Also I didn't realise this was a resurrected thread so I was reading all the above comments confused as to how River was appearing as Cleopatra two episodes after the first time
