An elderley relative of mine has been having trouble with her SamsungLE26R74BDX freeview telly.
Apparantly the freeview channels disappeared a few days ago. So of course she scanned the tv which picked them back up again. But this can last for a few minutes to a few hours before needing to be redone.
Has anyone any ideas. She has had the aerial checked which is fine, the neighbours tvs are ok so im assuming it is a tv fault.
Any help much appreciated

Do the channels disappear from the EPG, or are they still there but get "no signal"?

Do all channels disappear or just some?

Where are you?

I ask because I am having possibly a similar issue with a freeview box where some channels give "no signal" but there are duplicated in the 800's that work. Everything is fine immediately after a re scan, but some time later the channels go dead and the working duplicates appear.

I'm suspecting bad data in the NIT.

Is her tv aeriel connected directly to the tv or via a vcr/dvd recorder?

Try going into the digital menu and check you have the latest software. Other than that there is a hidden menu. With the tv in standby press info, menu, mute and then standby and go to the reset option

Yes the TV is plugged straight into the aerial

The relative is in Yorkshire. I think all the channels dissapear and no signal appears. Scanning only seems to work for a few minutes

If she's on Emley Moor, then it's running on half the aerial array, with half the transmitter power feeding a dummy load.

This is causing massive problems, and presumably mainly to one side of the mast? - but I've no idea which side. On personal experieince, reception to the south is well down though, loads of complaints.

It's planned work, ready for DSO - but has been extended until the end of August.

Not usually good advice to an elderly relative...Sorry if this sounds patronising, but, it's very easy to make a mistake in there......
