Artists who have had an amzing first single but it's all gone down hill from there.

There are a few but my first though would be Ke$ha.

Any others you can think off.

I personally think Ke$ha has stayed consistent. It's been nice to see proper pop in the charts; Take It Off sounds like an Aqua track, love it

Ke$ha's third single is probably her best so far, like DS says it makes her seem less novelty.

Alphabeat and Mini Viva's chart placings have gone very downhill since their first Top Ten singles, though (especially in MVs case) the quality of their singles has improved.

Not my own opinion but in terms of chart positions

Taylor swift has failed to find any success since Love story which is a huge shame as there songs on her album that are even better then Love story. Although i suppose her US success is all that matters

Kelly clarkson. My life was a number 1 hit and yet the following two singles bombed which is another shame as I do not hook up and Already gone are better then My life.

I guess in this country that's technically true, but in America "Love Story" was the lead single from her second album.

I have to say I sort of agree with the Black Eyed Peas. I really dont understand how everything they touch these days sells so outstandingly well when their (imo) far superior work a few years ago never really set the world alight. Some of the stuff on their latest album is alright, but I much prefered their older material.

Agree with this - though to be honest, all three should have bene big hits. (And did well in America at least)

I dont really understand what happened - she managed to sell both singles and albums in the past, but this time around it just didnt happen.

I agree. My december killed her UK career. She has never seen any major success over here since Breakaway.

I loved Kate Nash's, Foundations that reached number two but since then I don't even think she's had another top ten single.

Actually the follow-up was Umbrella Beach which peaked at like #134 or something.

Vanilla Twilight just got strong downloads when the album was released and entered the charts at #94 even though it wasn't a single.

wait are we talking about first single off an album or first single in all by an artist, cuz kelly clarkson had the breakaway album before my life and it was amazing

And are we discussing chart success or musical quality?

Hardly. She has had one single that didn't make the top 10 following Happy. Compare that to the others mentioned, that is nothing.

Thats a good example. Her latest album has pretty much flopped too despite high airplay for the lead single. I really like Kate Nash but she is pretty much one tiny step above a one hit wonder

How she won that brit over Leona is still a major mystery to this day for me personally

did she not go to the brit school? I'm sure that counts for something. do the brits fund the brit school?

Kate Nash did go to the Brit School. But then, so did Leona. I personally think it was more of a snub at Simon Cowell and the X Factor than anything.
