Hi all,

I have just been refused a contract by Vodaphone as I haven't got a good enough credit score. Now as I already have an Orange contract, would my bad credit affect me getting an additional line ?

Many Thanks DJM

I'd think you'd be ok. If you already have an account with them (and provided you've kept it in order) I wouldn't think they'll bother with a credit check. T-Mobile have never checked me again since the first line I had with them. I've now got two iPhones, a laptop and dongle, a combi plan and a flext plan (which finishes July 14th)
There's no credit searches from them on my file other than the very first in March 2005.

Orange usually has the lowest criteria for getting a contract, although if there is a problem with your score they might ask you to pay a deposit before you get the extra line.

Yes I was able to have T-Mobile and Three but I could not get an Orange phone at their shop when I tried like 2 years ago.

I went to buy a BB Bold 9700 2 weeks ago at CPW on an Orange Dolphin tariff. I've been with O2 for years on a £35 a month contract and never missed a payment and I certainly havent got any debt so I was really surprised to fail the credit check I just ended up sticking with O2 but I was surprised and I dont know what criteria they use

If you've never had a credit card, loan, overdraft or something that you've repaid on time, you tend to have absolutely no credit rating - so when Orange come along, their system just tells them there isn't enough information to make a decision.

It's a strange one, though - because normally, having a phone contract and paying it well would give you some sort of credit rating. I did that at 18, didn't want a credit card or anything but wanted a credit rating for the future, so took out a low-end 12-month Vodafone contract which did the trick.

I ae a credit card which I just use for internet shopping and pay it off straight away as soon as I use it. I also have a car on finance and have never fell behind on payments for that, I was really surprised I got turned down but o2 have always been fine with me so no big deal

I think you should be fine with getting another line if your account with orange is in order. I started with 1 T-mobile line and have since got a second line and mobile broadband without any problems. They keep on trying to get me take out another line.

I also have a line with O2 and they keep offering me another line and broadband. I think once you have a line with a network and you pay your bills on time you wont have any problems with getting additional lines.

That is great, I spoke to Orange retail earlier & said that as they had no Iphone 4 in stock, they would require a deposit of £50. Then as soon as they get stock in, they would run thru the application process for the additional line.
