Key 'EastEnders' players set for big 'E'
The lowest ratings figures ever for EastEnders are set to prompt the departure of some of the hit soap’s best known characters, including members of the feisty Slater family and gangland boss Andy Hunter. Others whose days may be numbered are award-winning stars Jessie Wallace, who plays Kat Moon, and her onscreen hubby, Shane Richie.
Also possibly for the axe are perennial loser Billy Mitchell, the trouble Ferreira clan, and Slater family elders Charlie Slater and Mo Harris. Stepping into the shoes of the Queen Vic locals will be a slew of new talent in roles ranging from a property developer, a young couple fighting to make their way in Walford and a trio of yuppies. Former Albert Square resident, Ross Kemp, who left the series to take up a golden handshake deal with rival channel ITV, says the genre’s demise lies with the fact that too many soaps are being screened. “The big ones are being flogged to death at the moment. They’ve been overscheduled,” says the actor, who is rumoured to be ready to return to the Square when his ITV deal culminates. “I think there are only so many times you can tell the same story.” http://www.hellomagazine.com/celebri...astenderscuts/ (Full story) Well this looks promising... although I don't think getting rid of Jessie or Shane will do any good.. but the Ferreiras, Billy, Charlie and Mo sound like a good start. Of course it will be great if Ross Kemp returns we keep hearing more and more about it but would he really return with the current writers?

OMG for once you and I agree about EE
. If what you say is true then it will be a big help to restore EE to its former glory. Lets hope so because it is going from bad to worse and looks set to get duffed in the ratings tonight again by emmerdale

It does seem as though they already lined up a new couple to take over the Vic!

That all sounds quite interesting, I'd love to see some fresh new talent coming in. My only plea would be fresh talented writers as well as actors.

i dunno getting rid of Mo and charlie, i dont agree with, ad it could be a mistake getting rid of alfie and kat and letting a new couple take over the vic. but others sound good.

Kat n Alfie aren't the problem, it's the writers and storyliners who don't know what to do with them. Getting rid of actors (and I don't necessarily believe the above) is just rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic.
There seems to be a lot of dodgy 'information' around today, wonder where it's coming from. |

Just to add, this looks like either a PR job from EE, or a tired-hack job from Hello. It's full of possiblys and maybes, and is essentially a non-story saying absolutely zilch except what we already know -- EE is going down the pan.

I don't think they should get rid of Kat and Alfie. Plus I still think Mo is a valuable character.. She's actually one of the few genuinely funny residents left.

That all sounds like good news to me. Although I don't think they should get rid of Billy Mitchell - after all, he's only become a bit low key because of Kacey's absence - I'm sure when she comes back he'll be needed again.
