This really has nothing to do with soaps in particular, but about the soaps section of DS. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I've seen a lot of spoilers and BBC-related news items that have been coming from first-time posters (meaning people's very first posts), then I tend not to see them post anything discussion-wise after that.

Or am I completely losing it?

I've noticed this as well, it is usually EE spoilers that have been confirmed as untrue (although there are some true spoilers) that people post here and then they disappear after that. So, no you're not completely losing it!

Ok, good!

I wonder if such people are 'planted' in these forums? I've been led astray numerous times, so I tend not to believe anything I read now.

I've noticed it to, must admit I tend not to read the first time posters with spoilers now as so many have been completely off beam. And yes, they do normally seem to be about EE.

1st timers should be welcomed, but also encouraged to stay and take part more in prolonged discussions.

Poor 1st posts are usually as a result of not reading other threads carefully.

Didn't there used to be a ban on starting a new thread for a week after you register? Has this been stopped now then?

It could be me, because my memory does let me down on many occasions, but I thought that when I joined, one of the rules was that you couldn't start a thread until you had made some reply postings (or at least been a member for a reasonable length of time).

I think that was one of the rules (at least when I joined). I was a member for a few days before I could start a new thread. I'm not sure about replying to established threads, though. I don't think I'd have the guts to post a mile-long list of farfetched spoilers as a first-timer. They seem to annoy people rather than enlighten them. I agree with Alan45, it always seems to be EE spoilers, never Corrie or Emmerdale.
