Hi does anyone know if T-mobile will be officially stocking the iphone 3g/3gs? I know it is available through a website (think its called chitter chatter) but that seems to be the only place that stock it on T-mobile. Are they not going to bother with the iphone 3g/3gs now they have secured the iphone 4 deal?

Also this question I suppose would be best answered by T-mobile employees -will the iphone tarrifs be exempt from the advantage plan discount due to them being set by Apple?

Thanks in advance!

I got two iPhone 3GS last week as upgrades from T-Mobile and they were quite flexible with the price plans. It seems that as long as the plan you ask for is of the same value as the official iPhone tariff then it's ok. My tariff is flext (which I had before) and I get £320 allowance to spend on calling, texting and mms. It also allows calls to 0845, 0870, international landlines and mobiles, albeit at a higher rate. Plus 3GB of data per month. I also managed to hang onto my free off-peak calling (10,000 mins per month to landlines and mobiles in UK evenings and weekends)
All the above for £45 month on each phone. The phones (16GB 3GS) were both supplied for 'free' on a two year contract.

Hi thanks for your quick reply Appleseed. I am on that amazing Flext Tarrif, which includes the 0845 and 0870 numbers. I was worried that they would force me to move off this.

Did they offer the phone in white? Also out of interest how much did you pay for the actual handset?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry Appleseed I read your post again - you already stated it was free on a 2 year contract. Did you enquire how much it would be for an 18month?

I got one black and one white handset (women eh!) same deal on both. They won't force you off flext as long as the plan is equal in value to the iPhone plan. An 18 month contract wasn't offered but to be honest, for what I ended up with I wasn't going to push my luck! You might get lucky but be prepared to pay something towards the phone if you do.

Were you a high spender previous to upgrading e.g. always going over your bill? Did you saythe Flext tariff was £45 a month previous to upgrading?

I am currently on Flext 35 (£180 credit) for £35 a month but I only pay £17.50 a month due to the advantage plan discount. I think I will have to pay a good wack towards the phone, although I might ease the blow by going for a 2 year contract like you did.

My old tariff was 'old' flext and I had £250/month allowance. No data. My partner's phone had £200/month allowance, again no data and also on 'old' flext. I secured the above deals from these old plans. My partner's phone didn't have off-peak calling before but they added it for the new deal.
I think you'll have swallow hard, lose the current deal and thrash out a new one. I think what you'll be offered is the standard deal of 1200 mins, unlim texts and web for £45/ month over two years, or poss unlim text and web with 900 or 600 mins for £40/£35 respectively. These were mentioned to me but only on two year contracts. In both cases the phone was free of charge.
By the way, I rarely go over my mins but did used to have to call 0845 etc sometimes, which cost me. Now of course they come out of my allowances!

I dithered on the iPhone for a while but I'm glad I went for it. It's an amazing piece of kit. Right now I'm on a campsite in the middle of nowhere and I sat and watched England take a hiding this afternoon!
