BB holding up well given the early finish. If it ever returns I hope it is to a channel who give it a fixed, consistent slot.

Good for BB based on the fact that it was the highest Monday rated episode. The Hospital did well but was expecting more after loads of promotion and advertising.

Identity dropped quite a bit! Which is not very good, i thought after last week, it would have a very good chance of doing well throughout the series. The soaps doing briliantly for this time of year, EE getting 9m+ in July!

I wonder, how come in the last few weeks ITV News has been down, i'm sure it used to get close to 3m and used to always be 2nd in its slot...

Fake Britain and EE considerably up on last week. Slightly larger drop than I expected for Who, but up against Dragons Den and a less popular celeb, the drop was inevitable and 5.4m is still a great figure.

Good night for BBC2-DD hardly affected by the move and TG repeat does well at 7pm. Rev also got a reprieve with a better lead in.

Not the best of nights for ITV1. Identity's chances of recomission are looking unlikely now and it's becoming more obvious as to why ITV don't launch many dramas in the Summer, because I reckon Identity would have had 5m+ in the Winter. With people going on holiday now it's harder to follow a drama, but much easier to catch a one off show like Who or a film on FIVE.

The rot also seems to be setting in deeper for Corrie, losing its Monday dominance by over 0.5m which is quite shocking really. The days of Monday 40% shares also seem to be getting fewer and fewer and the BBC1 fillers getting higher and higher. They need this new producers work to kick in now, but I suspect a lot of the viewers won't return till the 50th anniversary, but that's a great opportunity to showcase the (hopefully) great quality when the new producers work arrives.

Another show over 2m for CH4 and Police Interceptors mammoth run of 15 episodes seems to be split after 8 episodes to make way for another run of The Gadget Show starting next Monday.

ITV News always drops in the summer and matters aren't helped by their "human interest" angle which has spectacularly bombed on them. ITV need to relaunch all of their news output (again) and there probably wouldn't be a better time to do it than in September to coincide with the launch of Daybreak. ITV could also benefit from having a proper studio instead of being presented from a giant green box which just makes it look tacky. At the minute they look like they've perched inside a yellow box in the middle of the night.

Identity is pretty rubbish though, I watched it last night and thought it was dross.

This is what I've been saying all along! It makes for a stronger Sunday and Wednesday and wouldn't harm Thursdays/Fridays that much because there would be still another hour of soap on each of those days and Wednesdays one off episodes are still proving strong now, so viewers will still know where to find it, football or no football.

The Monday lead in is the most important one because its their drama night so thats where ITV need the Corrie lead in. There may not be so much crossover audience on a Thursday with documentaries or a Friday with entertainment shows, so Corrie becomes somewhat redundant in those slots. I think a lot of people, especially older viewers, still can't get their head around no Corrie on at least a Wednesday, possibly a Sunday, with another episode on Thursday.

Ah I see, cheers. If i was to watch news i would always choose BBC over ITV.

Awesome rating for EastEnders - its highest summer rating since 2007. I think the only other episode to break the 9m mark in the summer in the last couple of years was Jim Branning's return. WDYTYA dropped to the levels expected and still did well.

Dragons' Den did alright considering the switch from Wednesdays. It's weird that the BBC keep moving programmes to different days mid-series. But one positive is that Rev got a nice boost to one of its highest ratings of the series.

Usually I'd say those are good summer ratings for Corrie but compared to EastEnders', they don't look too good. Game's over for Identity; it couldn't afford dropping below the 4m mark and a recommission must be out of question now. So that's three new major drama series ITV1's had this year and all three have struggled!

Good rating for Big Brother - highest rating on a Monday for the entire series. Usually ratings dip mid-series, but just like last year the opposite is happening at the moment.

87.4 - which is brilliant for a pilot episode. Highest AI for any BBC1 programme since last Tuesday. The breakdown and AIs are so good, it makes me wonder if it could do the rare thing of increasing its audience for episode 2? Maybe a tad optimistic (especially with the earlier timeslot), but I can't remember a new drama being received so well in a long time.

Excellent for EE ( I predicted 9mill ), also CS as well for late July showing that the audience is still there for popular drama. The strongest hour of the night was 9-10pm (based on given audience shares) with more than 24 million total viewers which seems very high.

School holidays are upon us, parents letting kids stay up later would help with ratings to some extent, less people are actually away on holiday than recent years, all original programmes last night - does anyone else remember when the Summer schedule was chock full of repeats? This shows us clearly that viewers are loyal to their televisions come rain or shine with a decent enough line up to watch at night.

Poor for Identity, 3.6m against Rupert Everett ( who most people won't have actually seen in anything of note ) in WDYTYA - which did well to win its slot quite so comfortably. I spent Monday evening catching up on Sherlock, can imagine a lot more will watch it on time delay pushing the offical quite easily over 8mill for barb ratings.

You and ZoeMc are the only guys who shares a little bit of my point of view regarding the soaps, plus I actually like Coronation Street and Emmerdale - rzt, Georged, George S look too much from a short-term business point of view in this case.

ITV must be desperate for December to arrive, although I'm still not sure which way it will go for Corrie.

I think the majority of Corrie viewers watch more or less every night so I can't see their anniversary episode going much above 11-12m. Eastenders has a massive casual audience.

Exceptional ratings for Eastenders last night. The highest summer (June-August) overnights figure from last year was only 8.46m. In fact it didn't break the 9 million mark once between April 7th and September 14th in 2009.

Well to be fair, what James J is saying is different to what you suggested regarding moving X Factor back to Saturdays only. You've also not replied to any of the points I made in response to your previous post - you've made a lot of assumptions in your fantasy schedules such as ITV bring able to afford loads of one-off dramas when clearly they can't.

It doesn't help either that you keep changing your fantasy schedules every couple of weeks! Last week you said...

Yeah it sure has got people talking and im quite surprised that the BBC didn't go with advertising for the storyline but maybe they had faith in it
But it wraps up on Friday and makes way for some bigger storylines which is happening over the coming weeks.

I think corrie will come out tops the end of november and the start of December but EastEnders will then overtake again around the week before xmas as usual and with Stacey and Jeans exit rumored for part of the big storyline im sure it's going to do well

It's a big storyline, and bound to do well. It's definitely a commendable figure.

Yes, the mind is a wonderful thing - it can change. I think the last few months have shown how week Corrie is on Thursdays, and pure logic would have it back on Sundays.

The X Factor is academic, why bring that up? We're talking about soaps...and James J and Zoe seem to agree with me about the soap.

They're only ideas...and my research is correct. Fridays, as you know, were ruined by ITV's beyond terrible entertainment/factual programmes this year...

I think you see television from a purely business point of view, do you even enjoy it for what it is? All I am calling for is simpler scheduling in the viewers' interest and in the channel's long-term interest.
