Great to see MasterChef clearing 2m for the first time this season.

Shockingly bad numbers for Hey Hey. After all the early promise when it was initially revived, it is now a big turkey for Nine. It won't last much longer in that slot I shouldn't think. Next week it will be pushed to 10pm in most states anyway because of the third and final State of Origin match.

The ABC lineup did impressive, I imagine the Masterchef audience left Ten and went to ABC, The Gruen Transfer did great, I believe they did a pilot for a UK version which didn't go beyond that stage which is a shame as it would make a great BBC Two or Four show.

There has indeed been lots of trailers for Reunited - but then, because of the World Cup I have been watching a lot of BBC1 - but as someone else has noticed it wasn't a choice in the Radio Times, and I can't remember the last time that happened with a new BBC1 drama. Even if they didn't have a preview tape, they'd normally still include it and say they didn't have one.

For what it's worth, I watched it - because I liked Cold Feet and the concept intrigued me, and definitely not just because I've got a bit of a thing for Jemima Rooper - and it was all a bit pedestrian.

You're right to say, though, that Cold Feet-esque dramas are usually big flops, there are hundreds of them, the likes of Wonderful You (the first ITV drama at 10pm after News at Ten went, which got into Broadcast's list of the least successful series of the decade), Hearts and Bones, Metropolis (those two started on successive days), Big Bad World, Single (those two were relegated to late night slots), Mutual Friends, I Saw You and so endlessly on. Some of them were OK - well, the last one was - but none of them did much. It comes to something when Married Single Other is one of the most successful (but not enough to justify a 26-part second series),

One of the other flops was Rescue Me, with Sally Phillips and written by David Nicholls, which BBC1 showed on Sunday nights in 2002, but it didn't do very well, only pulling in about three million viewers, and I remember the Beeb started repeating it after the news on Fridays, initially unscheduled, just to get the ratings up. I also remember that before EastEnders one night in the middle of the series they did a really long trailer, about two or three minutes, actually introduced by the announcer ("EastEnders is in a moment, but first a look at our new drama...") and on screen throughout it said "EastEnders Next, Rescue Me Sunday 9.00". They were desperate for it to be a hit. But it wasn't.

Big Brother did well yesterday - its 3rd best rated highlights show this series. The bad thing for the show is that it's rarely going to occupy the 9pm slot in the next couple of weeks so we probably won't see such a high rating for a highlights show in a while.

Poor for Reunited, although like everyone else I hardly saw any promotion for it. EastEnders directly before that did quite well considering it's hardly ever on Wednesdays. Decent evening for ITV1 with solid ratings for the three shows. Good rating for the Top Gear repeat.

Bit of a ratings surge for Big Brother.

Brilliant for BB, the highest rated episode since Day 3/4 (the first Sunday episode where Mario was exposed) which got 3m in the overnights.

Looks like the absense of the football had made the big difference for many shows.

Great, great figures for BB there!! And it was a cracking show last night Perhaps a little surprised that the Murray match could only muster 5.0m for the BBC in the past the matches shown on the BBC have achieved fantastic ratings-although I'm sure the semi and potentially final will rocket!

There was loads of talk about BB and Shabby's breakdown and tantrum. It also helped that no football was on last night.

Not a bad night at all really, considering the World Cup messing up the schedules.

I had really low expectations for Reunited but for it to get over 3 million is alright, especially as it had EE for a lead in.

The soaps did really well - 6m+ at the height of summer and during all the sport is commendable. It was good to see Emmerdale in particular hit the 6m mark again after seeing a lot of episodes rating 5m+.

After some recent poor figures for BB, last night did really well indeed. Why the sudden surge I wonder? The figures seem to be fluctuating at the moment and not really settling.

Midsomer Murders continues to be reliable for ITV1. For a repeat, it manages 1 million more than a new episode of The Bill

The increase for Wimbledon at 5m was expected for the ending of the Murray match and the switch to BBC1.

Any figures for BBC3 at all? I have to say the channel has really grown on me lately. I've been watching it loads!

Really bad night for Five here.

And looks like the bbc did the right thing moving the match to BBC1.

Channel 4 not great but BB up to 2.9

Good figure for BB last night, deserving of its rating too. Hopefully it can stay above 2.7m for tonight and gain momentum for tomorrows eviction. Its going to be quite a pivotal one so should get at least 3m for the 9pm show.

It's probably going down well in the US TV market which seems to be enduring a serious dumbing down at the moment. (SyFy - Good god, what an awful name, sounds like an STI, but we have to suffer that one too)

However look at the ratings for MTV UK over the years and there is no way that channel is as profitable as it once was. I'm even going to wheel out that trusty scientific method of gauging interest... I don't know anyone who watches it.

It's audience share has collapsed to 0.1% which is woeful for a once high profile channel. I remember back in the day it used to be a big selling point for pay TV outlets and now they don't even bother mentioning it on the leaflets. I notice that The Box, which is a proper full-time music channel, has recently overtaken it in terms of reach just to add insult to injury.

MTV as a brand is dead now. Viacom have sucked the life out of it by turning it into a tacky reality TV channel.

Good solid audience for Murray there, more popular than the news bulletins before it.

Tonight will be tricky as we all know the ratings for the shows that finish at 11:15pm will be lower as it finishes around 8 minutes early, however 2.7m for tonight would be brilliant.

Last nights ratings are great and gives me hope for Friday as they announced the nomination results so i reckon as 2.9m people saw that, its pretty much means that the eviction (well the 9pm show defenitley) will get 3m+.

So if they bought in "new audiences" to the channel, I guess that means even existing Five viewers (both of them) were turned off!

And Restaurant Inspector yet another blatant rip-off from Mr Woolfe. Still no original idea commissioned from him since he arrived at Five.


Interesting though how it didn't benefit the BBC2 coverage at all - it arguably caused them to lose viewers actually, whilst isn't 5m less than what the BBC gets for the regional news (around 6m)


Loving Mongrels on Tuesday nights - nothing else though of real interest on BBC3 for me at the moment.

Oh right, I just assumed it was on at 9pm tonight. Not sure if 3m will watch the duration of tomorrows actual eviction show but it should definitely peak above 3m.

ITV my have had a little boost if they had Coronation Street advertised yesterday. I wasn't aware it was on instead of Lion County until 7pm when the announcer mentioned it.
That said, I suppose if ITV hadn't shown any football they'd have been an episode down somewhere?
