A couple of bits of programming news from Australia:
TEN are to fast-track
Junior MasterChef. Originally it was due to launch after the Commonwealth Games in October, but the broadcaster's programming chief David Mott has confirmed to the
Daily Telegraph that it will now launch in early September, having been impressed by early footage. He had a lot of praise for the programme, produced by Shine Australia and not Fremantle like the main show, saying:
Quote:
““We’re absolutely delighted by the kids and it’s one that’s going to surprise. They are going to show the adults up – even the ones on the original series.””
Critics are already saying it looks loads more fun than
Celebrity MasterChef which filled the void last year and produced decent but ultimately fairly unremarkable ratings for the network. There will be more than one episode a week but not as many as the six-a-week pumped out by the original series.
Meanwhile Seven's
The X Factor looks likely to launch on either the 29th, 30th or 31st August. Like here in the UK they are aiming for big name guests every week. Already names like Robbie Williams, Enrique Iglesias, Snoop Dog and Pink have been mooted for possible appearances.
